A cat in the home poem

A cat in the home

This poem reflects that relationship of cats with us humans:

A cat in the Home

Excuse the paw prints across the page,
And the tear down on the right.
But the cat just took centre stage,
And with this page picked a fight.

Excuse that old well-worn mat,
Sitting beside the rocking chair.
But it is a favourite of the cat,
And she likes to sleep just there.

Excuse the state of the kitchen floor,
Here, I just give it a clean.
But the cat came in the back door,
And left her footprints on the scene.

But I won’t ask you to excuse the cat,
Nor the presence of her fur.
So give her a stroke where she has sat,
And just listen to her purr.
