I have failed, once more, at giving up
I have failed, once more, at giving up,
I just can’t seem to walk down that road.
I find myself sipping from hopes cup,
And then repositioning my load.
There are moments when, just for a while,
I’ll stop, saying ‘here I will remain’
And yet, once I choose to, I then smile
Knowing full well I will start again.
I may sit down, saying ‘I give in’
And be determined to stay just there.
But my restlessness will soon kick in,
When I can sense a change in the air.
There’s always that feeling there is more,
If I carry on for one more day.
That if I just step through that next door,
Something better will then come my way.
Besides, what’s the point of staying here?
This is not where I wanted to be.
Each step I take brings the future near,
And only in there will I be free.
Each Tomorrow brings a new promise,
That yesterday cannot now provide.
What’s the point of sitting in life’s mist,
So I’ll stand up, and walk with a stride.
