It has been a better day (poem)

You life can change in a day!

It has been a better day

It has been a better day,
I have seen a clearer way,
At last! A new path for my future I have found.
My world feels so much brighter,
My back feels so much lighter,
Yesterday’s stress has fallen softly to the ground.

I have a chance to live again,
For my happiness to remain,
As my sadness disappears, fading from my sight.
My inner spirit is now free,
It feels alive once more in me,
What was going wrong is beginning to go right.

I can feel that I am stronger,
I can keep going for longer,
Whatever tomorrow brings, I will find a way.
My life will begin to grow,
A better world I will know,
And all this happiness found within me, will stay.

Secret dens and Pirate ships (poem)

Children games in the park

Secret dens and Pirate ships

In the bushes beside the park fence there’s a ‘secret den’,
– Although if you know where to look, it’s easy to see.
Currently it’s a place of adventure for some children,
Playing as secret agents, under its canopy.
On the park bench their parents listen as they play,
They are searching for ‘the baddies’, laughing as they do.
Then silence descends as they find a ‘new secret way’,
To crawl along, bringing them back into their parents view.

Alongside the park there’s a stream where the ducks float,
Waiting eagerly for bread that the children might throw.
Two children arrive at its side carrying their toy boat,
Setting it down upon the stream, it sails off in full flow.
To them it is a Pirate ship sailing the seven seas,
Ready to find buried treasure upon some distant shore.
‘Land ahoy’ they cry as it stops in the bend by the trees,
Picking it up, they go back and set it sailing once more.

Coby is Awake (cat poem)

Coby has woken up!

See his first poem:
Coby is sleeping
(It has the same rhyming structure as this poem)

Coby is awake

Coby is awake, and will now partake,
On a journey to the garden outside.
Going out the door, he will then explore,
All those places where creatures might hide.

Behind the flowerbed? Or under the shed?
He will see if there’s anything to be found.
All creatures must hide, when he is outside,
For it’s not safe when he is roaming around.

Pausing in his walk, is it time to stalk?
For suddenly there’s something coming his way.
Oh, it’s just a leaf! That’s such a relief,
For he really did not want to hunt today.

Now back through the door, he crosses the floor,
To the spot where his food should always be.
He yells out to all, they come to his call,
He starts purring as they prepare his tea.

Nature’s summer wonders (poem)

The beauty of nature in summer.

Nature’s summer wonders

The sun rolls lazily across our summer sky,
The gardens are putting on their summer show.
Above them, the swifts and swallows are flying high,
While the butterflies dance upon the flowers below.

Roses burst open in colours of yellows, pinks and reds,
Their blooms sway gently from a passing summer breeze.
The Buddleias and the flowers in their flowerbeds,
Are surrendering their pollen to the passing bees.

In the woodlands, the animals are raising their young,
The trees providing the shelter and homes that they need.
Its canopy echoes to the songs the birds have sung,
Its spring blossom slowly changing to autumn seed.
