Purring loudly in my ear (cat poem)

The actual cat sitting on this poem

No lie-in when there is a cat around

Purring loudly in my ear

Purr, purr, purring loudly in my ear,
Purr, purr, purring tells me she is here.
It may be early in the morning,
But she tells me the sun is dawning.
That my attention she does now need,
That it is time for her to have her feed.

Stiffly, stiffly, do I climb out of bed,
Stiffly, stiffly, do I ensure she gets fed.
Then quietly I try to sneak away,
So I can rest some more on this new day.
However I failed in fooling her,
As on this page she sits going purr, purr.

Only this moment is real (poem)

In all the confusion of our lives, today is still ours to live

Only this moment is real

Only this moment is real, only in the now can we live,
Only this moment we can feel, only in the now can we give.
The pain may have carried through, the heartache may linger within,
But your life you can renew, a new journey you can begin.

Yesterday may have lost it way, tomorrow is just full of dreams,
But your heart lives in today, though that may not be what it seems.
Joy can be in your life again, Laughter can once more fill the air,
Even if, in stillness you remain, and uncertain of getting there.

Feel your heart beating within you, let it drift you into tomorrow,
For it knows there’s a better view, that you can leave behind the sorrow.
Let the wounds of the past heal, let the spirit within you thrive,
For only this moment is real, and in this moment we are alive.

upside down and inside out (poem of love)

Finding love can turn your world around.

Upside down and inside out

Upside down and inside out does my thinking feel like today,
Everything is drifting about, confused and floating away.
Yesterday appeared to make sense, tomorrow’s path seemed to be clear,
But love has broken down the fence, letting the sunshine flood into here.

Once only shadows filled my mind, I was standing frozen on the ground,
But now there is a new life to find, with new horizons to be found.
My feet are no longer beneath me, my world has turned me on my head,
And yet more clearly do I now see a better life is out there instead.

Let upside down become upright, let inside out become the norm,
Let tomorrow’s sun come into sight, let my life accept this new form.
Perhaps this is all I need today, just to let love back into my heart,
Now my life can see a better way, so along this new path I shall start.

Living in the moment (poem)

When lost in an empty place, live in the moment.

Living in the moment

No future or yesterday, no tomorrow or behind,
No sign to show us the way, nor is there a path to find,
Just a stillness deep within, a calmness all around,
You cannot try and begin in a place where nothings found.
You cannot choose a direction in a place where nothing flows,
And where your inner reflection is the only thing that grows.

And yet you are not alone, for your inner spirit is here,
You may travel on your own, but your inner self is near.
All sitting there within you, for all are living in today,
With no past or future in view, just let time drift on its way.
Let the future come tomorrow, let yesterday be in the past,
Release the empty sorrow, so this moments fullness can last.

Walking on my own (poem)

A peaceful refreshing moment with yourself.

Walking on my own

Though I walk alone, I am not lonely,
For within me I have all the peace I need.
The sky above and the grass below me,
The land around me full of nature’s seed.
Each seed has grown into its own splendour,
A living gift that refreshes my day,
And to that peace my heart will surrender,
As I go quietly on my own way.
I can sit and enjoy the warming sun,
Just here, where I am the one and only.
Then start walking back to where I begun,
For though I walk alone, I am not lonely.

Through the winter branches (poem)

You can see a long way in winter

Through the winter branches

Through the winter branches flows the winter breeze,
Through the winter branches you can see beyond the trees.
Spring may have the blossom, in summer the trees are green,
Autumn many shades of red, but in winter the hills are seen.

Through the winter branches the sun comes to touch the ground,
Through the winter branches the wind carries every sound.
Spring may have the buds, in summer shadows fall below,
Autumn sways the leaves, but in winter the sky’s on show.

Through the winter months the sun travels low across the sky,
Through the winter months the moon and stars are seen up high.
The winter brings a freedom, a distance clarity for tired eyes,
The frost upon the branches as, on and off, the robin flies.

Red roses for you (poem)

 Love found in red roses
rose-red-1
Red roses for you

Red roses for you, my love is true,
A gift given with all my heart.
For you I care, my love I share,
And from you I will never part.

Each day you bring, a touch of Spring,
Refreshing and so full of cheer.
Always to be, in love with me,
In my arms and forever near.
