Looking back at memories

Looking back at memories, both the new and the old,
Each of them with their own special story to be told.
Each of them a part of the person you are today,
Each of them collected as you travelled on your way.

Both the happy and the sad are bundled up in there,
Some come to make you smile, while others are hard to bear.
Some bring back images of places you used to go,
Others bring back memories of people you used to know.

The memories of your childhood are found at the start,
And in the adult you became, they each played their part.
Then comes the memories of facing the world around,
Adventures that were taken, new places that you found.

Upon life’s journey, your memories define your past,
Some seem to gently fade, while others were made to last.
Some seem so far away, while others feel so near,
All of them created the person who’s standing here.

Memories are forever being made in your life,
Created in times of joy as well as in times of strife.
Created in a sequence, each adding their own worth,
Each telling the story of your life upon this Earth.
