Hugs given and received
I need a hug, it doesn’t have to be for too long,
I just need it to help me to once again feel strong.
I wouldn’t have asked, but it has been such a bad day,
And I just need a little help to chase it away.
A hug can do so much in the short time that it takes,
To the person receiving it, what a change it makes!
A hug will help them to know that there is someone there,
That in this harsh world, your time you are willing to share.
A hug helps them to forget about life for a while,
To release the tension, and replace it with a smile.
Giving them a moment totally free from their strife,
Giving them the strength they need to move on with their life.
So if you can spare a hug for a moment or two,
It will help someone stuck in a dark place, to get through.
The power of a hug can lift the lonely up high,
Even if it was just by chance you were passing by.
