Where the wild birds fly (poem)

Where the wild birds fly

Where the wild birds fly,
High up in the sky,
With golden sunlight touching their wings.
From trees they will call,
Or upon the wall,
Where the blackbird and the robin sings.

Sitting in the trees,
A young blue tit sees,
Insects upon the branches to eat.
Landing on the ground,
Doves wander around,
In our gardens and along the street.

Into the sunlight,
The starlings take flight,
Murmuration’s moving through the skies.
Upon the dry sand,
The seagulls now land,
Across the bay you can hear their cries.

Sparrows give a show,
Hopping to and fro,
As they squabble for scraps on the floor.
So many birds,
Singing without words,
Songs to be cherished forever more.
