Nature’s standing on our sidelines (poem)

Nature’s standing on our sidelines

Whatever we build, nature will penetrate any cracks,
It’s just standing on our sidelines, until we turn our backs.
We may cover the earth, create a world for our own kind,
But in amongst it all, at some point a plant we shall find.
Nature just needs a sheltered space, with sun and water too,
From there it will come along, and a new plant will breakthrough.

We may choose to call these weeds, and try to clear them away,
But nature will just try again, upon another day.
Within the smallest of cracks, a seed will one day settle,
Restoring a plant there, whether a rose or a nettle.
Natures choices may not be ours, but this world we all share,
Perhaps where we can, we should just welcome them into there.

Between Yesterday and Tomorrow (poem)

Between Yesterday and Tomorrow

Tomorrow is not yesterday,
They are always a day apart.
The past has gone its own way,
And the future cannot yet start.

Today stands wedged between the two,
And refuses to let them meet.
Neither of them is here with you,
Each of them must take a back seat.

Today brings a chance to ignore,
Whatever words they may shout.
Today will provide you with a door,
You can step through to shut them out.

Within this day you can let go,
Of all that yesterday left behind.
Tomorrow, you have yet to know,
So let today clear out your mind.

Today stands apart on life’s road,
Where nothing but this moment lives.
A chance to dump life’s heavy load,
And just take what this moment gives.
