Spring is pushing out winter (poem)

Nature is coming to life

Spring is pushing out winter

Spring is pushing out winter as the leaves begin to show,
Blossom’s on the branches as spring flowers begin to grow.
Daisies and buttercups are appearing through the gasses,
The gaps of winter are fading with each day that passes.

The bees are seen once more as they buzz between the flowers,
The sun is getting warmer in between the spring showers.
Summer birds are returning, each day a few more are seen,
Back from the warmer lands, where for the winter they have been.

The hedgehogs appear as they waken from their winter sleep,
Across the farmers fields, lambs can be seen amongst the sheep.
Spring is pushing out winter from the bushes and the trees,
The gaps filling with leaves, swaying gently in the spring breeze.

Snowdrops, the heralds of spring (poem)

They fight for our spring

Snowdrops, the heralds of spring

Beneath the cold winter ground, the snowdrops start growing,
Long before spring begins, their dark green tips start showing.
Defying those frosty mornings, ignoring all the cold,
Their small tips showing when no other flowers are so bold.

Defying winters grasp upon the land all around,
Shouting out clearly to all that spring will soon be found.
They may face the frost upon them, a snow flurry or two,
But those leaves keep pushing up, as more come into view.

Winter may still be here, but the snowdrops are on their way,
Fighting up through the ground, the snowdrops are here to stay.
Winter must soon surrender, accepting that spring has won,
As more spring flowers follow what the snowdrops have begun.

Winters Stillness (poem)

A calm winters day

Winters Stillness

Winters stillness, no breeze in the air,
A clear sky, no clouds drifting up there.
The sun is shining over the land,
Shedding its light and touching my hand.
A fraction of warmth, only a kiss,
On this cold day, it’s easy to miss.

The trees stand still, filtering the light,
Through their branches, the sun is in sight.
Their shadows grow as sunset draws near,
What little warmth will soon disappear.
Winters stillness, the night claims the day,
In its calmness, a frost’s on its way.

Come, let us all go towards the new (poem)

Let tonight bring a new tomorrow

Come, let us all go towards the new

Come, let us all go towards the new,
Let us leave the past to yesterday.
Come, let us seek out a better view,
Let us travel a different way.

Let a new dawn be found from tonight,
With a tomorrow to hold our dreams.
Bringing a bright new world into sight,
Filled with bird songs and bubbling streams.

Come, let us build a new tomorrow,
Let us grow love and heal all the pain.
Come, let us lessen all the sorrow,
Let us find happiness once again.

Let the new dawn throw away the old,
Replacing it with hope we can share.
Bringing a warmth to replace the cold,
A chance to show the world that we care.

Giving the gifts of forgiveness (poem)

Special gifts you can give at Christmas, or anytime

Giving the gifts of forgiveness

The gifts of forgiveness are wrapped up with thoughtfulness,
Each gift is selected with a touch of tenderness.
Each gift has a purpose, special to those who receive,
To encourage them in your forgiveness, to believe.

There’s the gift of understanding, that you understand why,
How it all went wrong, and can we give it another try.
There’s the gift of peace, saying please let the anger go?
Let’s find some harmony and let the peacefulness grow.

It includes an apology, regardless of who was right,
Saying ‘let’s forgive and forget’, let the past fade from sight,
There is the salve of healing, for the wounds and the pain,
To mend the scars and make the friendship healthy again.

Lastly there’s the gift of kindness, letting them know you care,
That in any problems they may face, then you will be there.
The gifts of forgiveness are always handmade and true,
Delivered by hand and made within the heart of you.

When the year is at its darkest (poem)

The lighter days are coming

When the year is at its darkest

When the year is at its darkest, with the sunshine far away,
And without that warming sun, it becomes another cold day.
On this dark winter’s day you may find it hard to make it through,
But even when the world is cold, your heart will be warm in you.

This day will not linger, its darkness was never meant to last,
And without even trying, this day will fade into your past.
Where this day will take you to, there may be no way of knowing,
But even if you rest a while, this day will keep on going.

Tomorrow will always come to us, bringing to us its light,
Sending whispers of hopes new dawn, spreading into this dark night.
It may seem far away, and on the horizon barely seen,
But the dawn is coming, bringing a new day all fresh and clean.

When the year is at its darkest, hopes light can always be found,
It may seem to be hiding, but it’s always somewhere around.
Somewhere not too far away, someone will have some they can share,
Then one day within your own heart, you will find hopes light is there.

Autumns falling crown (poem)

The changes of autumn

Autumns falling crown

Autumns falling crown, leaves tumbling down.
A new covering for the ground below.
A gentle wind blows, another leaf goes,
Wrapped in shades of red, orange, and yellow.

The sway of a tree, sets some more leaves free,
Releasing summers glory to the sky.
Some glide through the air, others flutter there,
Some spin when a gust of wind passes by.

The trees release more, falling to the floor,
Until beneath our feet, the leaves all lay.
The trees surrender their autumn splendour,
Before the frosts of winter come their way.

A touch of winter sunshine (poem)

Enjoying the coldest season

A touch of winter sunshine

A touch of winter sunshine,
On a cold and chilly day.
A moment of feeling fine,
Before the sun fades away.

A chance to see a clear sky,
Frost sparkling in the light.
Winter’s sun just passing by,
Before dragging back the night.

A moment of blue splendour,
So crisp, so bright, and so clear.
Winter’s world there to adore,
Before the dark night draws near.

A time of winter’s pleasure,
A freshness at winter’s noon.
A moment we can treasure.
Before the sun sets too soon.

A chance to refresh our lives,
Enjoy winter at its best.
Watch how the winter world thrives,
Before going home to rest.

A frosty early autumn dawn (poem)

Autumn is depositing its frost

A frosty early autumn dawn

The morning sun is rolling across the windowsill,
Nice and bright, but I can see outside there’s been a chill.
Frost has landed upon the lawn during this cold night,
Glistening in the early sun, autumns dawn delight.
Resting on the branches and decorating the wall,
Announcing on this dawn that autumn has come to call.

Putting on my old boots, I shall take a walk outside,
Just a gentle stroll, for it’s far too early to stride.
Leaving my footprints behind me as I wander pass,
The creatures of the night have left their own in the grass.
Upon a frosty branch a robin begins to sing,
The hibernators will soon be sleeping through to spring.

The leaves upon the trees glisten in the rising sun,
The change to their autumn shades has already begun.
This first frost will seal their fate, the trees will let them go,
Floating down to the ground, or to where the wind may blow.
The frost is now melting on this early autumn day,
Soon it will linger longer, now winters on its way.

Summer’s first hints of Autumn (poem)

Just a leaf or two

Summer’s first hints of Autumn

Summer’s first hints of autumn are appearing,
There’s just a leaf or two dropping here and there.
Showing to us that autumn time is nearing,
It feels just a little cooler in the air.

The daytime is now slowly decreasing,
The sun is spending less time in the sky.
The night time is now slowly increasing,
With the evening stars once more seen up high.

Squirrels start to seek nuts for hibernating,
Racing around the branches of the trees.
Birds have started to think about migrating,
To warmer places over the land and seas.

Some summer flowers are fading from sight,
As their bright colours slowly disappear.
But others will wait for autumn’s first bite,
And keep going until the frost gets here.

Summers first hint of autumn is in the air,
As nature starts releasing summers warm glow.
A time for the world of nature to prepare,
For whatever the winter may put on show.
