A day of my own to enjoy
Let the breeze blow through my hair,
Upon this day, clear and bright.
My time is my own to bare,
I am off to find some new sight.
Maybe a walk to the park,
With its woodlands by the lake.
There’s hours yet before its dark,
And plenty of paths to take.
There’s a one-day antiques fair,
With stalls in the playing field.
I could wander around there,
And see what goodies they yield.
I could treat myself to tea,
There’s that canal pub to try.
Let them bring the food to me,
As I watch the boats go by.
Perhaps I’ll head to the beach,
And walk barefoot in the sand.
That old lighthouse, I could reach,
If I walk round the headland.
I could go to the cliff top,
In time to watch the sunset.
At the food van I could stop,
Where a coffee I can get.
In the end it matters not,
Which out of all these, I choose.
For this free day I have got,
So in the end, I cannot lose.
