Life’s new dawn (poem)

Life’s new dawn

A new dawn has arrived,
On this path you survived,
Through every trail you have found a way.
You can sit back and rest,
You passed every test,
Just watch the sunrise upon this new day.

Your backpack you can drop,
Your walking you can stop,
Put your feet up, for you can rest at last.
Forget about life’s woes,
Just wiggle all your toes,
Let all the tension fade into your past.

Your load you can unpack,
Ease the stress from your back,
Archive all those bits that matter to you.
Toss out what’s left in there,
Seek out a comfy chair,
Then just relax and enjoy life’s new view.

Am I Lonely or Not? (poem)

Am I lonley or not?

Am I lonely or not? I just cannot decide,
Is loneliness a lack of people at my side?
Or does loneliness exist standing in a crowd,
With people talking and music playing too loud?
Sometimes I find that I am content on my own,
But then there are times I don’t want to be alone.
Sometimes I could enjoy meeting up with a friend,
Other times that a meeting would come to an end.

As the years have passed, I have come to discover,
That loneliness is neither one nor the other.
That loneliness is no more than a point of view,
What is lonely to me, is not lonely to you.
That what I found as loneliness just yesterday,
Is exactly what I want to do with today.
Maybe I will just let life be what it will be,
For true loneliness is when I cannot be me.

The Strength of Peace (poem)

The Strength of Peace

Peace may be a whisper, barely even heard,
Maybe just appearing as a single word.
Lost amongst so many others flying around,
But somewhere within them, peace can still be found.
Somewhere amidst those harsh words being spoken,
Is that precious word of peace being woken

Peace may be lost for now, somewhere far behind,
Amongst those words of anger, it’s hard to find.
But still that word keeps appearing here and there,
Creeping gently over the edge of despair.
Moving away from those dark words that bring pain,
Nudging words of light into the world again.

Peace may be forgotten by all those who hate,
But within our hearts, peace has the strength to wait.
Those words of hate will end, burned by their own heat,
Then from those chards, peace will stand on its own feet.
Peace will march forward as it becomes a call,
For always, peace is the strongest word of all.

Stockroom Disorganiser (lighthearted poem)

Stockroom Disorganiser

The stockroom’s almost overflowing and needs a good sort out,
But I will need some guidance to help me move it all about.
I have been given the perfect schedule, laid out nice and neat.
My actions ordered for me, starting from the top of the sheet.
They should have been easy to follow, or so that’s what I thought,
But instead of calm simplicity, my confusion got caught.

I knew things may be moved more than once, to give me working space.
But as soon as I started, things already seemed out of place.
I had to fill up the brown box, except it wasn’t empty,
It said we should find nothing in there, but no! There was plenty.
Next it tried to tell me to move a box that wasn’t there,
No matter how hard I looked, the third shelf was completely bare.

I looked carefully around me, and everything seemed wrong,
According to my guidance sheets, things were not where they belong
I bump into some items that were sitting next to the door,
But I was sure that nothing was meant to be there on the floor.
I could see it stated clearly that that was how it should be,
So by now this perfect schedule, was making no sense to me.

Standing there in confusion, my suspicion started to grow,
A spreadsheet had been used, to work out what I needed to know.
They are so helpful, letting you order which column you choose,
That if you ordered the wrong one, then you were bound to lose.
What was step one, so I found out, should have been step twenty four,
Now that it’s correctly ordered, I will attempt it once more.

Push on, Push on (poem)

Push on, Push on

Push on, push on, through life’s heavy rains and strong gales,
Through those times when life feels like a ship without sails.
When the thunder roars and the waves crash all around,
When no safe harbour in your rough life can be found.
Just cling onto the rudder, hold it firm and straight,
For beyond these storms of life, new tomorrows wait.

Push on, push on, walk over the hills and through dales,
Where you wander lost in a land with no clear trails.
When there is nothing for you to follow this day,
Where no signs can be found that will show you the way.
Just hold onto life’s wisdom, let it be your guide,
It’s life’s path you walk, from which tomorrow can’t hide.

Push on, push on, even when the light you hold fails,
When the world’s colours fade, and your life’s brightness pales.
Walk forward through the darkness, take each step with care,
Testing where your foot lands, trusting what it finds there.
For a dark night will bring out the stars above you,
As the long night ends, tomorrow comes into view.

To be a Serious or Lighthearted person? (poem)

To be a Serious or Lighthearted person?

Must I become either serious or lighthearted?
Is it defined in me from the day my life started?
Can I decide which one as I travel on my way?
Or must I choose one, and throw the other one away?
Must I let the world tell me which of these I should be?
Accept that only one of those two can represent me?

Such difficult questions! Perhaps a little too deep.
If I only knew how, then both of them I would keep.
So am I looking at this from the wrong direction?
Maybe I do not need all of this deep reflection.
Life was never meant to be a choice of black and white,
But is full of colour, mixed in shades from dark to light.

I can just look at each moment as it comes along,
Judge whether to laugh, or to be serious and strong.
Allow myself to switch between them during my life,
Let a touch of humour help guide me through times of strife.
Which one to choose this day can depend on what I find,
And if I’m still not sure which, then I will just be kind.

Winter is beginning to unwrap spring (poem)

Winter is begining to unwrap spring

Winter is beginning to unwrap spring,
Releasing the joys of what spring will bring.
Winter’s snow drops have become spring flowers,
Winter’s blizzards have become spring showers.

Flowers start spreading around us once more,
In gardens, hedgerows, and the woodlands floor.
In the trees, the blossom comes out on show.
Along branches, tips of leaves start to grow.

Under the wrapping of winters cold hand,
Spring was just waiting to reclaim the land.
Winter had been sheltering spring within,
With the wrappings removed, spring can begin.

The flowers say that spring is now here (poem)

The flowers say that spring is now here

Where has the spring gone? It should now be in view,
The crocuses are saying this is true.
The skies are still grey, they’re hiding the sun,
But the primroses tell me spring has begun.
The wind is howling upon this new day,
Within its cold breath, the daffodils sway.
The rain is still falling out of the skies,
But against all of this, the snowdrops rise.

The weather is dull, the cold is still near,
But the flowers say that spring is now here.
Up in the trees just bare branches are seen,
But look closer and their tips are now green.
All of these clues tell us spring is nearby,
It’s just being hidden by the grey sky.
Soon the sun will find a way to break through,
Then spring will arrive, it’s long overdue.

The stones of forgiveness (poem)

The stones of forgiveness

The stones of forgiveness lay within the pool of pain,
Each a small piece that can make you whole again.
Reach into the pool and find forgiveness within,
Release it from the pool and let the healing begin.

Hold a stone in your hand so the forgiveness can start,
Open up your fingers and release it from your heart.
With the freeing of a stone the pool’s becoming clearer,
The bottom of ‘complete forgiveness’ now a little nearer.

Let every stone be released to where there is the need,
Until, from the pool of pain, every stone is freed.
The pool becomes calm, its clarity still and true,
The peace of ‘complete forgiveness’ now laying within you.
