Seasons of life (poem)

Seasons of life

From the time of our birth,
On the world we call Earth,
The seasons of our life, with our childhood, begins.
Learning whilst we have fun,
Playing games in the sun,
Laughing aloud as we all race to see who wins.

During childhood we grow,
Learning more as we go,
Too soon the season of adolescence arrives.
Each child seeking a way,
Exploring more each day,
Discovering a new future for their young lives.

Into the world we stroll,
Making a life our goal,
During the long season that we call adulthood.
So many paths to take,
In life’s journey to make,
An adventure filled with both the sad and the good.

Whilst we work, rest, and play,
The years just roll away,
Then the season of seniors comes into view.
To the young we now turn,
As we help them to learn,
The cycle of life’s seasons beginning anew.

But it hasn’t happened yet (poem)

But it hasn’t happened yet

But it hasn’t happened yet, so it’s not too late,
The fears within us do not have to be our fate.
If there’s still a clear sky above us, we can win,
If there’s a clear road before us, we can begin.

Even if the sky’s cloudy, we can still prepare,
Even if the roads bumpy, it can get us there.
Even in the darkest night, the dawn will arrive,
If we are still standing, the dream is still alive.

If it hasn’t happened yet, we can still choose a way,
To seek out a better path to get through today.
Even if every choice is not ours to make,
We can decide within, the thoughts we want to take.

Until it has happened, we can keep on going,
And let the dreams for tomorrow keep on growing.
The way to the future can be found in your heart,
Being kind in this world is a good place to start.

Born in pure innocence (poem)

Born in pure innocence

Born in pure innocence are how all babies arrive,
Born without prejudices, with love ready to thrive.
Little hands reach out in friendship to those all around,
Within their tiny faces, joyfulness can be found.
No awareness of our differences, born within,
Born in pure innocence is how all our lives begin.

Little hands waving all around, when trying to walk,
Words spoken without languages, when trying to talk.
Happy to befriend anyone who will come and play,
To greet with excitement the coming of a new day.
No awareness of our choices that set us apart,
Let love and kindness become their guide, right from the start.

A Friend when you are in Need (poem)

A Friend when you are in Need

I have been your friend, solid and true,
In times of trouble, been there for you,
Making memories from all of those good and bad days.
Our friendship has always remained strong,
There for us, as our lives moved along,
Even when time has taken us in different ways.

If life today is making you sad,
Remember all those good times we had.
Let our friendship from back then, return to bring a smile.
Let our laughter be found once again,
So that this sadness cannot remain.
Let it show you that your life today is still worthwhile.

If you have problems getting along,
And you find that you don’t feel so strong,
Remember that these problems of today, will not last.
Those tough days we once knew, are no more,
This too will pass, as they have before,
It will fade away, as those bad times have in the past.

Friendship is gentle, patient and kind,
Bringing hope when it is hard to find,
Ready to give help in those times when you are in need.
I’m always there if times become tough,
Ready to help you get through the rough,
For a friend when you are in need, is a friend indeed.

Let kindness and love reappear once more (poem)

Let kindness and love reappear once more

Let kindness and love reappear once more,
Within your heart you have plenty in store.
You may have forgotten that love can win,
So take some kindness, and let love begin.
Whatever the problems, they cannot last,
One day they will become part of your past.

The pain may be great, and so hard to bear,
But within your heart, you have love to share.
Love defeats fear, kindness cures the pain,
Between them, no hate can ever remain.
Between them, a new future can be grown,
Healing begins wherever they are shown.

Reach out to others, touch them with your heart,
Upon that road of peace, your love can start.
Your love can reach out to all those in need,
Your kindness can help you to plant hopes seed.
Between them, a new tomorrow is found,
When kindness and love gets spread around.

Olympics, uniting the world (poem)

Olympics, uniting the world

Let the Olympics games bring together our nations,
And within their playing, bring just peaceful relations.
Let the flames of hope and understanding light its way,
Burning brightly throughout all of the games that we play.
Let peace and goodwill be the rules these games are played by,
As we all come together under a common sky.
And when we depart back to the world that we all share,
Keep the memories of knowing that peace was found there.

Sweep the good into tomorrow (poem)

Sweep the good into Tomorrow

Sweep the good bits of today into tomorrow,
Leaving all of the bad bits of the past behind.
You can abandon all of yesterday’s sorrow.
For there’s a better life out there for you to find.

Just take a pause from this life you are living in,
Then from out of life’s cupboard, take hold of time’s broom.
Sweep aside all of yesterday’s mess trapped within,
So you can give your life here today some more room.

Sweep off those cobwebs of gloom hanging on your past.
Let the breeze of hope blow life’s dark shadows away.
Toss out all of yesterday’s dreams that did not last,
And move the good bits from your past into today.

Tomorrow is waiting beyond today’s deep night,
Ready to bring into your life, a better view.
As the dawn breaks and tomorrow comes into sight,
Sweep in the good bits, and start off on the new.

Not getting started (poem)

Not getting started

If I am to get there, then I’d better start to run,
So others tell me, just in case I miss all the fun.
There will be loud music, with lots of dancing as well,
Which means that if I want to chat, I will have to yell.
Friends call me urgently, so afraid I might forget,
But if my truth must be told, I haven’t started yet.

There is a new shop opening up in town today,
There’s bound to be some special offers out on display.
My friends are all so excited, making such a fuss,
Saying that if my car breaks down, then just take the bus.
I see it’s raining, so I must prepare to get wet,
But I just have to admit, I haven’t started yet.

I watch the world rush around me on this busy day,
Briefly people come close, before going their own way.
So rarely a word is spoken, just a brief hello,
They tell me that I could miss out! If I go too slow.
That If I don’t speed up, my choices I will regret,
But within my calmer life, that hasn’t started yet.

There is a much better year coming (poem)

There is a much better year coming

There is a much better year coming,
All ready and just waiting to start.
As this New Year comes along drumming,
Welcome its music into your heart.

It brings a new melody to play,
A chance for us to sing a new song.
A chance to blow those old tunes away,
And let its spirit make us feel strong.

With its arrival, let the old go,
Toss those broken dreams into the past.
There is a better future to know,
From which new dreams can be built to last.

Yesterday may not change overnight,
But the New Year lets us change its view.
We can let kindness come into sight,
Then mix it with love to start anew.

Let the hope of the New Year come in,
Give it a seat that will keep it near.
From your heart let the future begin,
Then seek out the best for the New Year.

Between Christmas and New Year (poem)

Between Christmas and New Year

Between Christmas and New Year,
Let the joy and fun stay near,
Share this moment with kindness in your heart.
Whether it’s for the Lord’s birth,
Or a new year on the Earth,
Spend your time celebrating this new start.

Let this be a special week,
With good times for you to seek,
Just let those good memories come your way.
Go with a friend for a walk,
Or just sit somewhere to talk,
You don’t need a crowd to enjoy the day.

Perhaps split up what you do,
Giving some time just for you,
And giving time for friends here and there.
Catch up with your family,
Going there for cake and tea,
Your greatest gift will be the love you share.
