I am remembering now (poem)

I am remembering now

I may have forgotten, but I am remembering now,
How in this world, you showed me the where and taught me the how.
You were a guide to me through the unknown, showed me the way,
I may not have thanked you back then, but I will do today.
I may not have always been the person I could have been,
But you did your best with me, to explain the things I had seen

You were there to teach me as I tried to find a way through,
Holding together the old, as I went seeking the new.
Holding together the familiar I had let go,
So that if I ever got lost, it was still there to know.
Many years have passed since I left to carry my own load,
But for each step I have taken, you helped to build that road.

Remembrance Day: let us remember (poem)

Remembrance Day: Let us remember

Let us remember the fallen, those we have lost,
Through their sacrifice, they paid the ultimate cost.
In battles past, they defended us from harm,
In fields now silent, poppies growing in the calm.
In times that are now fading, let us remember,
Those that we can, on the eleventh of November.

Let us know their stories, recognise all they gave,
That in those moments of battle, they were so brave.
That in our moment of need, they stood up to fight,
That acts such as those, should never fade out of sight.
Let us remember the fallen, let us not forget,
And in a moment of silence, remember them yet.
