Queen Elizabeth II last journey (poem)

May you rest in peace

Queen Elizabeth II last journey

The time has come for our final farewell to you, Our Queen,
Our Majesty, Our Royal Highness, to all that you have been.
For seventy years you sat with dignity upon the throne,
Your dedication to your role, your kindness so well known.
You touched the world with your love, travelling so far and wide,
Reaching out to many, with your Prince Philip at your side.
Upon this final journey, in grandeur you now depart,
Farewell Your Majesty, you will still live within my heart

Queen Elizabeth II Remembered (poem)

May you rest in peace

Queen Elizabeth II Remembered

When I was born you were well established upon the royal throne.
Throughout my life you have been the only monarch that I have known.
You were the one true stability in a world ever changing.
No matter what the confusion, you were always understanding.
You knew what duty meant and knew that, for many, you led the way.
So much of the world turned and followed you in what you did each day.
You never disappointed, you could bring peace just by being there.
You were never overstated, but of you all the world was aware.
You could walk into discord but only harmony would walk out.
You would get close to so many when you went on a ‘walk about’.
You were always such a brightness, whether it was sunshine or rain.
May you rest in peace, and reunited with Philip once again.

Remembering Dad (poem)

Reflections for Father’s Day

Remembering Dad

You were there for me from the day my life begun,
On your back, you would sometimes carry me for fun.
You hand holding mine, there to help me as I grew,
Standing there by my side, your love I always knew.

There were those times when I would follow you around,
Often in the garage, you and I would be found.
Helping you in those ways that only a child could,
Handing you that ‘large spanner’, or holding some wood.

Throughout my childhood you helped me to understand,
No matter how great or small, you would lend a hand.
Encouraging me to try that little bit more,
Helping me through all those times when I was unsure.

Even when I grew up and my life moved along,
That bond between us always remained very strong.
Our conversations could go on for quite a while,
Always our goodbyes came with a kiss, and a smile.

It may have been a few years since you passed away,
But within my memories, it’s just yesterday.
Those times of shared adventures, I am still aware,
For deep within my heart, you are still living there.

Sweet love remembered (poem)

You are still with me

Sweet love remembered

The sun once rose upon us, so clear and bright,
A new dawn arrived, from life’s darkness came light.
Love was born, growing so deeply from within,
A world full of promise where our love would win.

Time spent together in the warmth of the sun,
Although if it did rain, life could still be fun.
A coffee that was shared just between us two,
A moment in time just there for me and you.

Laughter and joy we would find every day,
If some tears appeared, they soon faded away.
Walking barefoot together on the seashore,
Memories captured, and stored forever more.

Alas the sunset came and you had to go,
But although you are gone, your love I still know.
Sweet love remembered, kept safely in my heart,
Always a part of me, never to depart.

Yesterday I lost you (poem for the bereaved)

For all those who lost the love of their life yesterday
(Especially for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II)
160608 Rose B2 1 - Copy
Yesterday I lost you

Yesterday I lost you, my love, my sweetheart and truest friend,
Yesterday upon this earth, our time together came to an end.
You were always there by my side, together we were strong,
For so many years you shared your love, together we belong.
We laughed, we played, and through troubles times we walked together,
Although you may have passed away, your love will stay forever.
