The Meaning of Christmas (poem)

The Meaning of Christmas

What does Christmas really mean in this modern world today?
Has its meaning been lost amongst the glitter on display?
Or within the heart of Christmas, has nothing really changed?
Perhaps the meaning of Christmas has just been rearranged.

Christmas brings us joy and carries kindness within its arms,
A time when love and peace arrives, and when anger disarms.
A time of sharing with others your love that lives within,
Of reaching out with forgiveness, and welcoming hope in.

Let Christmas become a moment when peace gets shared around,
Where hate is swept away, so that happiness can be found.
Give love and hope this Christmas to others who are in need,
Let the meaning of Christmas be revealed in a kind deed.

Christmas is Running towards us (poem)

Christmas is Running towards us

Christmas is running towards us, but I am not ready yet!
I’ve not even started a list of the things I will forget.
It is still autumn! Those rumours of Christmas cannot be true,
But when I wander into shops, Christmas is clearly out on view.

When I look in a magazine, Christmas tips stare back at me,
What to buy, what to wear, and what I should serve for Christmas tea.
How to cook a Turkey, or to provide a tasty nut roast,
I abandon the magazine and eat a boring slice of toast.

The children are getting excited, even though it’s nowhere near,
But trying to explain that to them, will never work, I fear.
I’ll just have to try and get into the Christmas spirit myself,
Buy some Christmas sweets, open them, then hide them on the top shelf.

Let the celebrations start (poem)

Let the celebrations start

Let the celebrations start,
Let the joy into your heart.
The time has come to relax and have fun.
Whatever is the reason,
Let this become the season,
Where your joy is shared with everyone.

Release the love from within,
Let the happiness begin,
Let your goodness and kindness lead the way.
Whether a stranger or friend,
Your good tidings, you can send,
Share a smile with all those you meet today.

If someone is looking sad,
Of your joy, they may be glad,
Release some of the joy within you now.
Stretch out a hand in friendship,
Of your welcome, let them sip,
If they cannot smile, help them to learn how.

Let us dance around the floor,
Until we can dance no more,
Then sit and laugh at all fun we have found.
Take these good moments and share,
With the others who are there,
Let your happiness be spread all around.

When you have worn yourself out,
From the joy floating about,
Tuck all of those good memories away.
When real life is back again,
Those memories will remain,
There to be enjoyed on a rainy day.

Christmas forgiveness, kindness & love (poem)

Christmas forgiveness, kindness, & love

Let Christmas be a time when forgiveness thrives,
A time when anger departs and peace arrives.
A time when hate is tossed aside into the bin,
A time when friendship between all can begin.

Let Christmas be a time when kindness is there,
When those you have forgotten, find that you care.
A time to remember the kindness you have known,
To say thank you for the kindness others have shown.

Let Christmas be a time when your love can be found,
Where your love is shared with your friends all around.
Where your love is extended to those that you meet,
Even to strangers that you past on the street.

Let Christmas be a time full of joy and good cheer,
Where on the road of life, peace and harmony steer.
From your heart, let the goodwill of Christmas begin,
And when Christmas departs, keep its goodwill within.

Let the spirit of Christmas enter within (poem)

Let the spirit of Christmas enter within

Let the spirit of Christmas enter within,
Let the joy and happiness inside begin.
Let it touch your heart upon this day,
Let its smiles and laughter guide your way.
Let it bring a spark of fun into your life,
Let it allow you to be released from strife.

The spirit of Christmas comes every year,
Bringing into our life good tidings and cheer.
A chance to relax in your life for a while,
A chance to replace those frowns with a smile.
A chance to let your goodness open its door,
A chance to let your kindness reach out once more.

Christmas is a time for giving and sharing,
Within your life, to be loving and caring.
Let kindness to others come with this season,
It’s not hard to do, you don’t need a reason.
Bring peace into your world then share it around,
Somewhere within you, those feelings will be found.

Let Christmas bring a change in you (poem)

Let Christmas bring a change in you

Let Christmas bring a change in you, if only for a while,
Let Christmas remove your frown, leaving behind a smile.
Let Christmas bring a light to places where darkness dwells,
Replace the sound of strife, with the sound of Christmas bells.

Let Christmas be a time where your joyfulness is found,
Where you retrieve your goodwill and share it all around.
Let Christmas stretch out your hand to those who are in need,
Amidst your busy life, find time to do a good deed.

Let Christmas be a celebration, a chance for fun,
Bringing happiness to all, under the Christmas sun.
In amongst the hustle of trying to reach Christmas Day,
Remember to pause a while, so you do not lose your way.

Let Christmas bring a chance to change the world that you know,
To both friends and strangers, let your kindness be on show.
Enjoy Christmas in the way that is the best for you,
Whether in groups or alone, find peace in what you do.

Christmas joy and kindness (poem)

Christmas joy and kindness

The Christmas decorations are appearing all around.
Tinsel, baubles and angels, upon Christmas trees are found.
Beneath the tree there’s space for the presents on Christmas Day,
For now they’re hidden from the children, safely tucked away.
Plans for visiting friends, times for sharing a drink or two.
Plans for visiting relatives, who is visiting who?

Christmas kindness is appearing in smiles ready to share.
A chance to show at Christmas, that for others you do care.
A chance to notice strangers, to see if they are in need,
To stop awhile, lend a hand, and do for them a kind deed.
To share with them a little of the Christmas joy you know,
Encouraging the Christmas spirit within them to grow.

Christmas is a time of celebration, a time of cheer,
To share some kindness with everyone, both far and near.
Christmas decorations brighten up the world where we live,
Christmas kindness brings happiness, a chance for us to give.
Let Christmas be a time where joy and happiness are shared,
Let Christmas be a time where everyone knows you cared.

It is Christmas Day (poem)

There is always tomorrow

It is Christmas Day and Father Christmas has been,
Just by the bed a Christmas stocking can be seen.
Within it there are sweets, plus some toys they can play,
Such a wonderful beginning to Christmas Day.

The turkey’s in the oven, cooking nice and slow,
With lots more food prepared, it’s all ready to go.
Such a feast set before us, upon the table,
There is so much food to eat, will I be able?

In the Afternoon, more family come around,
Then, under the Christmas tree, more presents are found!
Keenly they are unwrapped, happiness is let out,
Joyfulness and laughter is floating all about.

Games are played round the table, Toys are on the floor,
A blue racing car comes whizzing through the hall door.
The teddy bears have been put to bed on the chairs
Except for one that is found sitting on the stairs.

Evening brings a calmness, time to just sit around,
After such a busy day, peacefulness is found.
The children are ready for their beds once again,
Christmas Day departs, but the memories remain.

The gift of giving at Christmas (poem)

The gift of giving at Christmas

The gifts sit upon the table awaiting my attention,
With wrapping paper and red ribbon scattered everywhere.
Checking my Christmas lists, has everyone had a mention?
I am pretty certain there is no one missing off of there.
There are the ones for the family, with those I shall begin,
Then comes the one for the friends that I have met along the way.
A couple of hours later and I’m beginning to win.
Not long now until they will all be ready for Christmas Day.

At last! They are wrapped and stacked, but it isn’t over yet,
(I shall just have a short break and grab something nice to eat)
For I have a special heap that’s meant for those that we forget,
For charities to share with lonely strangers I’ll never meet
These presents are quite simple, nothing grand or overstated,
But it will give Christmas to a person who’s alone somewhere.
Christmas brings the gift of giving, a day to be celebrated,
Christmas brings the gift of letting the world know that you care.

Let there be kindness at Christmas (poem)

Let there be kindness at Christmas

Let there be kindness at Christmas, for one and all,
Let others know the dove of peace has come to call.
Let others see that with you, Christmas can be kind,
Leave spoonsful of joyfulness for others to find.
Distribute your smiles, let them float to those around,
So when the smiles reaches them, happiness is found.

Let there be understanding at Christmas this year,
Let others know that your forgiveness is now here.
Let others see that with you, hate does not belong,
That with you, they will once more find hope and feel strong.
Open up your heart, and let them know that you care,
And that when tomorrow comes, you will still be there.
