A Moment of Perfection (poem)

Sometimes everything goes just right

A moment of perfection

I have had a moment of perfection!
Very rarely does that happen to me.
A moment without need of rejection,
Where all is right with all that I can see.

Everything here is now at its best,
A rare moment unlike any other.
I think I had better sit down and rest,
From this moment, I need to recover.

A Special Day of Celebration(poem)

A day to remember

A Special Day of Celebration

Today’s a special day, a day of celebration,
A day like no other, a day of jubilation.
A day to let happiness into the inner you,
To find joy and a smile in everything you do.
To awaken in peace as the dawn birds start to sing,
To get up and look forward to all this day will bring.

Today’s a special day, to remember forever,
To let all of the goodness in you come together.
A moment in time to enjoy your life, to have fun,
Be at peace within yourself until this day is done.
Whatever you do with it, let it brighten your day,
Whether you sit back and relax, or go out and play.

A blank piece of paper (poem)

A place for the imagination

A blank piece of paper

A blank piece of paper sitting there in front of you,
Revealing nothing, but with so much there you can do.
A place you can write or draw, the choice is yours this day,
Just pick up a pen or pencil and doddle away!
It doesn’t have to make sense, just release what’s in your mind,
It’s amazing what’s in there, waiting for you to find.
Perhaps just a few squiggles, to the top or to the side,
Or slap bang in the middle, a circle can reside.

Some words could be written, whatever comes into your head,
You could write them backwards, or upside-down instead.
Once you start writing, more words may start to come along
Who knows, you could even end up writing a new song.
You could add in a drawing, fill up an empty space,
Lots of little doddles going all over the place.
When you have done and there’s nothing left you want to try,
You could make a paper aeroplane and let it fly.

Catching a smile (poem)

Smiles are good for you

Catching a smile

I saw you come walking along the street,
With a cheerful tapping of your feet.
You had such a sweet smile upon your face,
As you walked on by, at quite a pace.
You rushed past me, your mind was elsewhere,
That you hardly knew that I was there.

I will never know just why your sweet smile,
Touched my world for such a little while.
Your happiness was so easy to see,
That it reached within to a part of me.
It brought a smile to me upon this day,
As I carried on, along my own way.

It made me think just how a smile can grow,
From a seed from someone I do not know.
That when you catch a smile, just by chance,
From a passing stranger, from only a glance,
It can cheer you up, so what I shall do,
Is to show a smile, to be caught by you.

Living within a happy moment (poem)

Happiness is alive in you

Living within a happy moment

Living within a happy moment, so cheerful to know,
A chance to enjoy life and to let this memory grow.
To relish this moment, to let it live inside you,
So that it can be remembered, recalled into view.
Once this moment’s over, to be safely tucked away,
A joy forever more, to brighten any dull day.

Whenever you meet a dark day, with not much to see
Just sit back for a while and set that memory free.
It’s with you forever more, through all time and space,
Just let it drift on back and bring a smile to your face.
Let it lead you through sadness and out the other side,
Forever in your heart, that memory shall abide.

An anti-negativity day (poem)

Let’s have a day full of good bits.

An anti-negativity day

An anti-negativity day, that’s what this day is going to be!
A day for releasing everything that has ever worried me.
A day for throwing out all of that inner sadness and sorry,
For I know full well that they will return, quite happily, tomorrow.
A day for doing pleasant things with only pleasant thoughts in mind,
To take a look around and see what enjoyable things I can find.
Perhaps I will just sit and rest, or at least that’s how this day will start,
Then maybe find an activity that will bring enjoyment to my heart.

Let’s just read the good news and ignore any bad bits there may be,
And leave it to the rest of the world to do the worrying for me.
A day of anti-negativity, taken just once in a while,
Will give my tired soul a rest, and a chance to do things with a smile.
For what does it matter if today is one of sunshine or rain?
I intend to search the good bits for some happiness to regain.
Let tomorrow come along well after the setting of the sun,
But from now until then, I’ll let this day be one of peace and fun.

A moment of happiness (poem)

Memories are full of happy moments!

A moment of happiness

A moment of happiness, a moment to smile,
A moment to let cheerfulness appear for a while.
A bright sunny morning, the birds greeting the dawn,
Brings a moment of joy as they land on the lawn.
A red sky above you, the birds return to their nest,
Brings a moment of calm as the sun goes for its rest.

A moment of fun, to let your laughter flow again,
Singing out loud on your own, or dancing in the rain.
A moment shared with friends, of playing games in the park,
Or that moment when you all lit candles in the dark.
A moment spent remembering the fun in your past,
Returns with happy memories that were made
to last.

Any moment is precious, you have many inside,
All waiting for you to let them pop up outside.
Just look up at the stars or feel the wind in your hair,
Let your mind seize this moment and enjoy what’s there.
Even in darkness you can find a moment of light,
For within your heart, happiness is always in sight.

Which book should I read? (poem)

You can never have too many books!

Which book should I read?

I’ve quite a lot of books, with shelves full of them on view,
So there must be one here just
 waiting to be read!
For even in old books, I’ll find something that is new,
And I have some spare time before I go to bed.

Do I fancy a challenge, all factual and true?
Or somewhere for my imagination to take flight?
Maybe spend some time learning about something new?
Although, I think my mind wants to slow down for the night.

Possibly this book, or maybe that one by the wall,
Oh dear! I am putting together quite a heap!
And now I’ve spent so much time looking through them all,
That I better put them back, for I’m falling asleep.

Take a moment to smile (poem)

A smile can make such a difference to our lives.
(This is a double rhyme poem)

Take a moment to smile

Take a moment to smile, just here in this place,
And after a while, it will cheer up your face.
Now spread it around for anyone to see,
Let it be easily found by others, for free!

If your smile finds another, that it can reach out to,
Then you can help each other, on this day, to get through.
For a smile will bring hope, in those times of great sorrow,
Helping us to cope and find a better tomorrow.

Take a moment to smile, let it enter within,
When facing a sad trial, it will help you to win.
It will lighten your load, releasing your sadness,
Brightening up life’s road, with a touch of gladness.

For a smile can help all, both inside and out,
Gives us strength to stand tall, helps us to tackle our doubt.
If it is too hard to do, just go for a grin,
Then let it seep through you, and your smile will begin.

Hugs, hearts and rainbows (short poems)

A collection of short poems.

Accepting a hug

Accept a hug in joyfulness,
Let it wrap you in its loving embrace.
Let it pass on its happiness,
And set a smile upon your face.

Beginning with the heart

When something new,
Comes into your view,
It can bring uncertainty on where to start.
Just look within,
On where to begin,
For the best guide is your own loving heart.

Life’s inner rainbow

Life’s inner rainbow comes in many shades and hues,
Within every part of us these colours do dwell.
So whenever you feel you are just living in the blues,
Glance around, for the other colours are there as well.
