I have never been normal

I have never been normal, there is not much chance of it now,
Yet I’ve managed to find a way of getting through life, somehow.
I have got up every morning ready to play my part,
Generally reaching the end of the day who I was at the start.
Some days will be different, where events will change what I do,
But whatever does happen this day, I still find a way through.

So why am I not normal? What makes me different this day?
I just don’t seem to want to play the game of life the same way.
I don’t have to be faster, or prove to the world I’m the best,
I enjoy doing what I can do, and just forget the rest.
I don’t have to become someone who I don’t like and don’t know,
If I can’t be myself with you, then I will just let it go.

You don’t have to have everything you want for happiness,
Just be yourself and enjoy what you do, can bring peacefulness.
To be able to laugh, to be able to just share a smile,
To spread a little happiness with others makes life worthwhile.
Whoever I am, one thing that my journey through life has shown:
Maybe I am not normal, but in my life peace I have known.

Oh no! Where do I go? (poem)

Oh no! Where do I go?

Oh no! Where do I go?
Look right, nothing’s in sight,
Look left, it’s all bereft.
Look high, it’s all just sky,
Look low, nothing below.
It’s clear, there’s nothing here!

What now! Get out somehow?
Where to? nothing’s in view,
Which way? Best not to stray,
Let’s muse, how do I choose?
Just start, follow your heart,
Just be, time to step free.

Let’s go! So much to know,
Learn more, go out the door.
Look far, search for a star,
Walk fast, release the past.
Just run, go have some fun,
Stand still, life can be real.

Look round, A path is found!
New way, a better day.
New light, new hope’s in sight,
Move on, start to feel strong.
Just smile, life is worthwhile,
Be you, your life renew.

A Peaceful Friend (poem)

A Peaceful Friend

There is pleasure in the company of friends,
Who can sit peacefully with me by my side,
Who can accept silence when the talking ends,
And in noisy places, we will never abide.

That a conversation will be of interest,
On topics that have meaning to you and me,
And afterwards we will have time to digest,
The ideas that our talking have set free.

That busyness will be just for a while,
Confined to those things we wanted to do.
So that afterwards, we can share a smile,
And let the peace of our friendship come through.
