Helping a world in trouble (poem)

Helping a world in trouble

When troubles come to our door, when the world has gone astray,
When yesterday is no more, and the future’s lost its way.
When no one knows what to do, other than just to wait and see,
When we’ve lost our way through, and do not know what to be.

We can live within today, look for where the needs are now,
Help others to find their way, even if we are not sure how.
This moment is for giving, a chance to help where we can,
For our life is for living, and helping our fellow man.

It may not be an easy choice, it may seem hard for today,
But if others hear your voice, then you can help guide their way.
If you can keep on going, clearing the path as you do,
Then to others you are showing, that there is a way through.

These troubles will pass one day, and our life will recover,
For now, just do what you may, and then you will discover,
That this world we can restore, a better future we can find,
That we can move on once more, with our lives recombined.

New Years hopes and resolutions (poem)

New Years hopes and resolutions

Let this new year be the beginning of a new life,
Where hope can be found upon the dawn of each new day.
Where inner courage can be found to face any strife,
And that through the toils and troubles, I will find a way.

Let kindness and compassion find a path through me,
Let forgiveness bring peace to my world once more.
Let understanding and clear sight allow me to see,
Those who struggle, so I can bring them safely to shore.

And as this new year begins to mature and grow old,
Let my actions bring hope to this world all around.
So that by the years end, there are stories to be told,
Of my acts of love and kindness, that others have found.

You are my sister, you are my brother (poem)

You are my sister, you are my brother

You are my sister, to one family we belong,
You are my brother, and together we are strong.
We are the keepers, we have one world for which to care,
We are the lovers, we have one life we can all share.

Tomorrow will come, we need to seek out the right path,
Tomorrow is ours if, instead of tears, we learn to laugh.
One life we all have, with it we can learn to forgive,
One earth we all know, and the only world where we live.

We have just one chance, to give our children a tomorrow,
We have just one life, to bring happiness and not sorrow.
Will we let it all end? A world where nothing is alive,
Or will we become friends? So this precious world can survive.

The Manger (Christmas poem)

The Manger (Christmas poem)

The manger has been cleaned and prepared,
With all the straw the animals need,
Placed into the stable to be shared,
Between the animals, for their feed.

To the stable, with its manger ready,
Come two seeking for a place they can stay.
Joseph, a carpenter from Galilee,
Mary, who has a baby on the way.

Then during the night, Mary gives birth,
So, from the manger, a crib is made.
The son of God has come to the Earth,
And into the manger, he is laid.

Mary gently lays down his sweet head,
Our Lord sleeping peacefully within.
From such a humble and lowly bed,
Does the story of our Lord begin.

Christmas, A time of forgiveness (poem)

Christmas, A time of forgiveness

A time of forgiveness, a time of goodwill,
A time to forget anger and let the wounds heal.
A time for the hope that came with His birth,
A time to reflect upon His work on this earth.

A time to remember those who cannot be here,
To raise up a glass and remember them with cheer.
Of the joy that you shared with them a long time ago,
For although they are gone, their love you still know.

A time of celebration with others around,
To make new friends of any strangers you have found.
To give to those who are less fortunate than you,
To help them find happiness, their hope to renew.

This time of the year should always bring peace,
As we look for the star that rose in the East.
As we remember the goodness that came from above,
And pray that to others, we can share some of His love.

Quietly on my own (poem)

Quietly on my own

I know I seem quiet and shy,
Wandering around on my own.
Drifting whilst the world passes by,
Or sitting somewhere all alone.

If that’s what you see, then please go,
For I live far beyond your sight.
I see a world you cannot know,
One full of harmony and light.

For within quietness, I find peace,
Within stillness, a chance to see.
My inner soul, I can release,
And within myself, I am free.

Spinning world of life (poem)

Spinning world of life

A spinning world in shades of blue and green,
Upon the polar caps, white ice can be seen.
A beautiful world when seen from outer space,
A world that is home to all of the human race.

Many other creatures call this world home,
And across many continents they do roam.
In the oceans, the fish swim everywhere,
While birds, bees and butterflies take to the air.

Across the ice, penguins walk to their home,
Across the deserts, the camels do roam.
Within the jungles, many creatures live,
Such a richness to us, does this world give.

The only world where, so far, life is found,
It’s just empty in space when we look around.
There is nowhere else all this life can go,
So let’s keep safe this precious world that we know.

One Earth, One Life (poem)

One Earth, One Life

One earth, one life, a world shared by all,
One people joined under the living sun.
One chance for us to hear harmony’s call,
Echoed softly from when the world begun.

One life is ours, a journey that we share,
From creation until our time ends.
During that time, it is for us to care,
For us to love, to laugh and to make friends.

Too short for anger, too precious to hate,
Our lives should be as a gift to mankind.
As for forgiveness, it is not too late,
To seek for peace and to open our mind.

To share all our ways, to hold out our hand,
To not let hate win, nor hide behind fear.
One people, one life, one earth and one land,
Let us reach out and let others draw near.

Humanities Plea (poem)

Humanities Plea

Let’s abandon today and leave yesterday behind,
Run away from the future and step out of our mind,
Offload all the stress, remove the fragments of pain,
Unpack all our happiness and start living again.

Let’s fold away tension and tuck it safely away,
Open up childhood memories and learn how to play,
Wipe clear all that anger that blinds us from the truth,
Throw out that bitterness that destroys our inner youth.

Let’s remember that we are all just one human race,
That we all share the same world, in this time and place,
Let compassion and truth be our soul’s inner guide,
That confusion and fear, from our love, can never hide.

Let’s give out our humanity and share all our dreams,
Let’s repair the hurt, so it does not split at the seams,
Let’s hold onto harmony when clouds of hate rush by,
And hoist up the flag of love, for love can never die.

Don’t let the anger win (poem)

Don’t let the anger win

Don’t let the anger win, don’t let the poison start.
Don’t let the hate begin, and tear us all apart.
One world we all do share, one life we call our own.
But others are out there, we do not live alone.
What good is hate to all? What good is angers bite?
When all we do is fall, as mankind starts to fight.

One way there is to walk, a hard march for the heart,
If we could learn to talk, and not get torn apart.
If love’s banner waves high, above a hateful word.
Then peace we all can cry, and let that word be heard.
We bring ourselves to fight, for peace and love, as one.
Those words we can unite, and in our name, be done.
