Sailing through a crazy world (poem)

There is a way through the craziness

Sailing through a crazy world

In amongst the craziness of this modern life,
Can we find a place where calmness can still prevail?
In amongst these raging seas of trouble and strife,
Can we find a harbour from where hope can set sail?

Those storm clouds of confusion have spread all around,
With thunderbolts of anger lighting up the skies.
Wherever we look, there is no clear ground to be found,
There is no hilltop seen from where the flag of truce flies.

Just what do we do when the world has lost its way?
Is there anything that I can do to change things?
There is no clear path, when I look around this day,
No better life promised with what tomorrow brings.

Perhaps I cannot change anything around me,
So maybe I should stop, just let it all pass me by.
Perhaps there is no better future that I can see,
So maybe it is in today that I should try.

If the outside is lost, then I should let it all go,
Let it take all its craziness out of my view.
Perhaps it is the inner me I should get to know,
Seek within myself for a life I can renew.

I can change who I am, replacing anger with hope,
I can change my life, try to toss out all that sorrow.
Within, I’ll build a ship of love, then release its rope,
And let the wind of kindness steer it through tomorrow.

Courage within troubled times (poem)

Your courage is there

Courage within troubled times

Within the troubles of today, comes the sorrows of tomorrow,
When harmony has lost its way, and there’s no peace you can borrow.
When all around are shedding tears, and forgiveness cannot be found,
All you see is a world of fears, everywhere you look around.

Just look within and you will see, a place where your soul can retreat,
Where you can set your spirit free, to keep you standing on your feet.
Your inner courage can come out, your inner peace can bring you calm,
Your inner hope clear out your doubt, your inner self kept safe from harm.

The outer world’s fallen apart, so within yourself just hold tight,
Within yourself just hear your heart, and let it bring to you some light.
Let it show your courage the ways, you can make changes here and there,
To guide you through these troubled days, to let others know that you care.

We are the Earths Guardians (poem)

The Earth is in our care

We are the Earths guardians

There is just one Earth, a world where we all live,
A beautiful place that has so much to give.
A spinning rock of life going round the sun,
And across its lands, wild animals run.
Within its oceans, the fish go swimming by,
Above its oceans, the albatrosses fly.

Among the creatures on this beautiful place,
There is one that calls itself the human race.
Unique upon this earth, free to move around,
In every part of the Earth, we are found.
Every sea we have crossed to lands anew,
Every continent we have travelled through.

We can touch every creature, learn their way,
Understand their lives and watch their young play.
We can change the landscape, change all that we see,
Only humankind has this ability.
We are the Earth’s guardians, to love and care,
To look after this world that all creatures share.

Strangers in a common world (poem)

Different and yet so much in common

Strangers in a common world

I can never be you and you can never be me,
The images that pass through your eyes, I cannot see.
The thoughts that pass through your mind, the ideas that you seek,
Will follow their own light and be forever unique.

I can only be me and you can only be you,
Each one of us is born with different points of view.
We each have our own methods of getting through a day,
We each have our own life to live, our own words to say.

But this world that we live on, is one that we all share,
Common to us all, a place for which we should all care.
We share the same sights when we are standing together,
Seeing the same landscape, and sharing the same weather.

Different views we may have, but together we can talk,
Different lives we may have, but together we can walk.
We can bring who we are, everything we can give,
And with love, patience, and kindness, in peace we can live.

Let the healing begin (poem)

It is time to heal.

This poem was written an hour ago, may it help.
Let the healing begin

Let the healing begin,
Let the sunshine back in,
Let it bring light back into our lives.
Let the darkness depart,
Let our life beat restart,
For through all that darkness, love survives.

Let our hearts start caring,
Let our peace start sharing,
Let our love mend the wounds of today.
Let hope open the door,
Let joy return once more,
And let kindness and love lead the way.

In troubled times, let peace find a way (a poem and a plea)

There is no happy future in anger.

In troubled times, let peace find a way

In troubled times, let peace find a way,
Let us treat one another as friends.
For if we cannot, then at the end of the day,
What we know as harmony, ends.
Instead of progress, our lives will decline,
Into a place full of anger and hate.
The ambassador of hope will resign,
Confused as to how we reached this state.

In troubled times, let’s find a way to heal,
To let go of the bitterness within.
Using words of peace, let us now deal,
So a path to harmony can begin.
No future is found within destruction,
No trust built whilst we are at war.
Let tomorrow bring one of construction,
Working together for peace once more.

Am I a stranger or a friend? (poem)

Let friendship bring understanding into a world of differences.

Am I a stranger or a friend?

I may have walked a different path, taken a different way,
I may have led a different life and seen a different day.
I may not have learnt with you, to see what you can be,
But does that make a difference between you and me?
So now I will ask of you, as this day comes to an end,
Just how do I stand before you, as a stranger or a friend?

Perhaps if I had known your way, had seen it long ago,
And decided that it was not for me, choosing not to know.
Then you could be right to say, that I am not like you,
To turn your face away from me and keep me out of view.
But I did not learn on your road, nor walk round a single bend,
So how do I stand before you, as a stranger or a friend?

I understand just what you say, I would like to know you more,
Perhaps if you would sit with me, there’s a seat just by the door.
Let me know of your life and I will tell you about my own,
Then after a day or two, our understanding will have grown.
Learn how to heal our wounds, to know where to stitch and mend,
And then, over time, change from a stranger into a friend.

A Helping Hand (poem)

We could all do with a helping hand.

A Helping Hand

A helping hand can be given during times of great need,
A chance to help friends and strangers, by doing a good deed.
You may not know just what it is for them that you can do,
But they will know just what they need, to help to get them through.

A helping hand can fix and mend something that is broken,
Guided on what they need, from the words that they have spoken.
Maybe a shelf has slipped, or there’s a problem with their door!
Soon you give them a smile, which tells them all is well once more.

A helping hand can fetch and carry items for someone,
Moving things from room to room, or getting their shopping done.
Once the task’s completed and there is nothing more to do,
You can relax, have a drink and eat a biscuit (or two.)

A helping hand comes as a pair, twice as much you can give!
By their actions, your hands will help others to cope and live.
Stretch out your hand whenever you see something you can do,
Then in your times of need, others will do the same for you.

You are my sister, you are my brother (poem)

A message of unity for the world.
pond dipping 1 - web

You are my sister, you are my brother

You are my sister, to one family we belong,
You are my brother, and together we are strong.
We are the keepers, we have one world for which to care,
We are the lovers, we have one life we can all share.

Tomorrow will come, we need to seek out the right path,
Tomorrow is ours if, instead of tears, we learn to laugh.
One life we all have, with it we can learn to forgive,
One earth we all know, and the only world where we live.

We have just one chance, to give our children a tomorrow,
We have just one life, to bring happiness and not sorrow.
Will we let it all end? A world where nothing is alive,
Or will we become friends? So this precious world can survive.

Spinning world of life (poem)

We live on a beautiful world

Spinning World of Life

A spinning world in shades of blue and green,
Upon the polar caps, white ice can be seen.
A beautiful world when seen from outer space,
A world that is home to all of the human race.

Many other creatures call this world home,
And across many continents they do roam.
In the oceans, the fish swim everywhere,
While birds, bees and butterflies take to the air.

Across the ice, penguins walk to their home,
Across the deserts, the camels do roam.
Within the jungles, many creatures live,
Such a richness to us, does this world give.

The only world where, so far, life is found,
It’s just empty in space when we look around.
There is nowhere else all this life can go,
So let’s keep safe this precious world that we know.
