The howling wind in the night
Nature has released it’s wind to howl this night,
It’s tone changing as over the land it blows.
Sometimes blowing strong, other times blowing light,
Sometimes it whispers, other times it bellows.
Dancing and weaving between all that it meets,
The branches of trees waving it along.
Hedges quiver as it races up the streets,
A gate swings open, adding to the night’s song.
Through the countryside, across meadow and field,
The crops and grass bend beneath its loud roar.
Along the coast, the sea begins to yield,
As its waves raise higher, crashing on the shore.
As the day breaks, its journey is clearly seen,
Of its encounters crossing over the land.
Trees reveal where some of their branches had been,
Now scattered around by the wind’s howling hand.
