The Moon is shining (poem)

The moon is shining

The moon is shining

The moon is shining through the night,
Chasing the darkness with its light.
Racing the stars across the sky,
Joining with the bats flying high.
With the clouds, it plays hide and seek,
Changing its shape over the week.

The moon is shining on the lake,
Catching the gaps the ripples make.
When the winds’ bellows are out,
Its reflection bobs all about.
When there’s a stillness in the air,
A perfect reflection just sits there.

The moon is shining on the trees,
Dappling the leaves in the breeze.
Slipping through gaps, seeking the ground,
Patches of moonlight all around.
Sometimes the branches hold it back,
But somewhere it will find a crack.

The moon is shining where I stand,
Landing on the back of my hand.
Showering the world with its hues,
No reds or greens, just greys and blues.
In its light, a new world on show,
A world the sun will never know.

The glory of nature – Sunset (poem)

Nature is settling down

The glory of nature – sunset

Let the red sky light up the west,
Arriving with the setting sun.
Let the Robin fly to its nest,
Now that all its singing is done.

Let all the flowers’ petals close,
Their nectar taken by the bees.
Let the sweet scent come from the rose,
Floating upon the evening breeze.

Let the deer settle in the forest,
The squirrel settles in its dray.
Let the butterflies come to rest,
Folding their rainbow wings away

Let the rabbits settle for the night,
Safe in their underground barrow.
Let daytime creatures fade from sight,
As they sleep until tomorrow.

The glory of nature – Noon (poem)

Nature is alive

The glory of nature – Noon

Let the noon sun light up the day,
As the green leaves grow in its light.
Let the swifts and the swallows play,
Swirling in suits of black and white.

Let the squirrels race through the trees,
Searching for nuts that they can eat.
Let the tides pull upon the seas,
Engaging with the moons heartbeat.

Let the butterflies bring beauty,
With their colourful wings on show.
Let the bees buzz on the fruit tree,
Collecting nectar as they go.

Let the grass in the meadows sway,
As the noon breeze touch the flowers.
Let natures glory shine on this day,
Whether it be sunshine or showers.

Blue skies from Storm clouds (poem)

Clear skies return

Blue skies from Storm clouds

There’s a touch of blue,
Coming into view,
Are those grey storm clouds departing at last?
There’s just a small zone,
Standing all alone,
Does it mean this storm is now in the past?

It’s slightly less dark,
It’s not quite so stark?
There’s another patch of blue I can see.
There’s a patchwork sky,
I can see up high,
From those storm clouds, the sky is breaking free.

There’s more blue than grey,
A brightening day,
Even the sun is now showing its face.
It is getting warm,
From this fading storm,
As the sun begins to dry up this place.

Now it is just blue,
With no clouds in view,
The storms but a memory in my mind.
The sun is on show,
So out I shall go,
To enjoy the freshness, it’s left behind.

A touch of winter sunshine (poem)

Enjoying the coldest season

A touch of winter sunshine

A touch of winter sunshine,
On a cold and chilly day.
A moment of feeling fine,
Before the sun fades away.

A chance to see a clear sky,
Frost sparkling in the light.
Winter’s sun just passing by,
Before dragging back the night.

A moment of blue splendour,
So crisp, so bright, and so clear.
Winter’s world there to adore,
Before the dark night draws near.

A time of winter’s pleasure,
A freshness at winter’s noon.
A moment we can treasure.
Before the sun sets too soon.

A chance to refresh our lives,
Enjoy winter at its best.
Watch how the winter world thrives,
Before going home to rest.

A frosty early autumn dawn (poem)

Autumn is depositing its frost

A frosty early autumn dawn

The morning sun is rolling across the windowsill,
Nice and bright, but I can see outside there’s been a chill.
Frost has landed upon the lawn during this cold night,
Glistening in the early sun, autumns dawn delight.
Resting on the branches and decorating the wall,
Announcing on this dawn that autumn has come to call.

Putting on my old boots, I shall take a walk outside,
Just a gentle stroll, for it’s far too early to stride.
Leaving my footprints behind me as I wander pass,
The creatures of the night have left their own in the grass.
Upon a frosty branch a robin begins to sing,
The hibernators will soon be sleeping through to spring.

The leaves upon the trees glisten in the rising sun,
The change to their autumn shades has already begun.
This first frost will seal their fate, the trees will let them go,
Floating down to the ground, or to where the wind may blow.
The frost is now melting on this early autumn day,
Soon it will linger longer, now winters on its way.

A golden ball of summer sunshine (poem)

Nature welcomes a new day

A golden ball of summer sunshine

A golden ball of summer sunshine,
Balancing upon the land at dawn.
A promise that the weather is fine,
Just as a new day is being born.

The sunlight touches the tops of trees,
As it releases them from the night.
The dawn chorus sing their melodies,
As the birds welcome the summer light.

Rabbits emerging from underground,
Welcome the sunshine of this new day.
Nature is everywhere to be found,
As the sunshine sweeps the night away.
