Reflection of puddles (poem)

Reflection of puddles

All those heavy rains have turned nature upon its head.
Some of the treetops can be seen pointing down instead.
Within the reflection of puddles, the world has changed,
The normalities of nature have been rearranged.

An upside-down world can now be seen upon the ground.
Upside-down people on their heads, strolling around.
Ripples from a breeze shaking those reflections about,
But once the breeze passes by, those ripples straighten out.

Reflections within puddles, the sky’s now far below,
Dazzling so brightly when the sun comes back on show.
The suns light bounces, shooting back up into a tree,
Branches usually in the shade, sunlight they now see.

Hills climb the other way, sloping left instead of right,
Upon reaching the puddles edge, vanishing from sight.
The drying of the puddle shrinks this upside-down scene.
The grass restored to where the upside-down world had been.

Hope, Kindness and Love united (poem)

Hope, Kindness and Love united

There is always a way through the thick and the thin.
There is always a path where tomorrow can win.
No matter how much around us is torn apart;
Within each of us, a new tomorrow can start.
Within each of us, we have all that we can need.
We have hope, kindness, and love, with which to succeed.
Deep within ourselves, everyone of these live,
And bringing them all together, lets us forgive.

With hope, comes a torch to show us all that can be,
Bringing light back into our lives, letting us see.
With kindness, you can help others stand up once more;
Help their wounds to heal, to become strong like before.
With love, comes the gift of sharing all in your heart,
Giving to others your love, never more apart.
Hope, kindness and love, each have their own part to play.
Uniting them all, will let the world find its way.

This heartache you feel will not last (poem)

This heartache you feel will not last

I can see your tears are falling,
And you feel your future stalling.
But I can tell you that this pain will not stay.
I can tell you that it will go,
Though you may not believe that’s so,
But one day you will find that it’s gone away.

This heartache you feel will not last,
It will become part of your past,
Each day a new future is getting nearer.
Your life from here will be remade,
And those dark clouds will start to fade,
As piece by piece, your days will become clearer.

In this moment, you’re feeling blue,
But it won’t stay inside of you,
Even if all this sadness feels locked within.
Just let this moment drift on by,
One day there will be a clear sky,
And a brighter future for you will begin

I am remembering now (poem)

I am remembering now

I may have forgotten, but I am remembering now,
How in this world, you showed me the where and taught me the how.
You were a guide to me through the unknown, showed me the way,
I may not have thanked you back then, but I will do today.
I may not have always been the person I could have been,
But you did your best with me, to explain the things I had seen

You were there to teach me as I tried to find a way through,
Holding together the old, as I went seeking the new.
Holding together the familiar I had let go,
So that if I ever got lost, it was still there to know.
Many years have passed since I left to carry my own load,
But for each step I have taken, you helped to build that road.

Christmas forgiveness, kindness & love (poem)

Christmas forgiveness, kindness, & love

Let Christmas be a time when forgiveness thrives,
A time when anger departs and peace arrives.
A time when hate is tossed aside into the bin,
A time when friendship between all can begin.

Let Christmas be a time when kindness is there,
When those you have forgotten, find that you care.
A time to remember the kindness you have known,
To say thank you for the kindness others have shown.

Let Christmas be a time when your love can be found,
Where your love is shared with your friends all around.
Where your love is extended to those that you meet,
Even to strangers that you past on the street.

Let Christmas be a time full of joy and good cheer,
Where on the road of life, peace and harmony steer.
From your heart, let the goodwill of Christmas begin,
And when Christmas departs, keep its goodwill within.

Leaves within a storm (poem)

Leaves within a storm

Within a gentle breeze, the leaves softly sway;
But beyond the breeze, there’s a storm on its way.
Slowly the breeze grows and the leaves start swinging;
A hint of the winds that the storm is bringing.

The storm soon arrives with its wild winds in toe,
Encouraging all the leaves to dance to and fro.
A few leaves break free, they start spinning in flight,
Skipping down the lane, fading out of sight.

The storm tosses some leaves out from that wild race,
Spiralling them down into a calmer place.
Sweeping them into heaps, resting together,
Into a sheltered spot, avoiding the weather.

Other leaves will ride out the storm, flying high,
Only touching land once the storm has passed by.
Settling down once more as the storm fades away,
Whilst above them on the trees, the leaves softly sway.

Kind words and a smile (poem)

Kind words and a smile

Kind words and a smile,
Can make life worthwhile,
And bring joy to all those that you meet.
Just a word or two,
Just a ‘how are you?’
Can spread cheer as you walk down the street.

Doing a good deed,
For someone in need,
Can make their lives feel better this day.
Just a helping hand,
Can get them to stand,
Give them the strength to find a new way.

If someone’s in doubt,
Then just help them out,
Help to restore some peace in their mind.
When you have no clue,
On what you can do,
There is always the choice to be kind.

Tattered sails upon the mast (poem)

Tattered sails upon the mast

The tattered sails upon the mast,
Too many storms they have sailed through.
They tell of a turbulent past,
Of the journeys towards the new.
Tossed and turned on the ocean,
This ship has travelled far and wide.
Always the ship is in motion,
On seas with no safe place to hide.

Yet there are harbours to be found,
A safe haven to recover.
But soon the ship is outward bound,
To see what it can discover.
Those tattered sails all still flutter,
Maybe they won’t win any races.
But through life what does it matter,
If they get you to new places.

Do I have the perfect life? (poem)

Do I have the perfect life?

Do I have the perfect life? a question I asked myself today,
But then upon reflection, just what does perfect mean anyway?
Does a perfect life mean that I can buy anything that I see?
Or that I already have everything that I need for me?

Is a perfect life something that is just hiding around somewhere?
That if I knew just where I should look, would I find it waiting there?
Could someone else find my perfect life, a present they can then give?
Or must I look to others and their lives, to see how I should live?

But why wish for what others have! Try to mimic all that they do,
For I have found that just being kind is enough to get me through.
Being kind to others can bring a joy, a richness deep within,
And being kind to myself brings me peace, when life is hard to win.

As the evening comes (poem)

As the evening comes

As the evening comes to bring the closing of the day,
Nature starts to settle down as the light fades away.
Another busy day is over, it’s time to rest,
As the sun slowly fades from sight, sinking in the west
The rabbits return to their barrows deep underground,
Just nibbled remains of grasses left scattered around.
The birds sing their final song as the dusk settles deep,
Settling on the bushes and trees to go to sleep.
The squirrels climb into their holes as the night descends,
For the creatures of the day, it’s now that their day ends.

As the evening comes to bring the starting of the night,
The creatures of the day have all disappeared from sight.
The world belongs to the moonlight and the stars up high.
The bats begin to wake up, spread out their wings and fly,
Sending out their echoes as they seek their food to eat.
The foxes start their hunting, so agile on their feet.
The hedgehogs are rummaging for insects in the lawn.
The owls go hunting silently from dusk until dawn.
Nature never knows stillness, only its cast gets changed.
As the evening comes, so nature just gets rearranged.
