Sweep the good into tomorrow (poem)

Sweep the good into Tomorrow

Sweep the good bits of today into tomorrow,
Leaving all of the bad bits of the past behind.
You can abandon all of yesterday’s sorrow.
For there’s a better life out there for you to find.

Just take a pause from this life you are living in,
Then from out of life’s cupboard, take hold of time’s broom.
Sweep aside all of yesterday’s mess trapped within,
So you can give your life here today some more room.

Sweep off those cobwebs of gloom hanging on your past.
Let the breeze of hope blow life’s dark shadows away.
Toss out all of yesterday’s dreams that did not last,
And move the good bits from your past into today.

Tomorrow is waiting beyond today’s deep night,
Ready to bring into your life, a better view.
As the dawn breaks and tomorrow comes into sight,
Sweep in the good bits, and start off on the new.

Not getting started (poem)

Not getting started

If I am to get there, then I’d better start to run,
So others tell me, just in case I miss all the fun.
There will be loud music, with lots of dancing as well,
Which means that if I want to chat, I will have to yell.
Friends call me urgently, so afraid I might forget,
But if my truth must be told, I haven’t started yet.

There is a new shop opening up in town today,
There’s bound to be some special offers out on display.
My friends are all so excited, making such a fuss,
Saying that if my car breaks down, then just take the bus.
I see it’s raining, so I must prepare to get wet,
But I just have to admit, I haven’t started yet.

I watch the world rush around me on this busy day,
Briefly people come close, before going their own way.
So rarely a word is spoken, just a brief hello,
They tell me that I could miss out! If I go too slow.
That If I don’t speed up, my choices I will regret,
But within my calmer life, that hasn’t started yet.

The Moon is shining (poem)

The moon is shining

The moon is shining through the night,
Chasing the darkness with its light.
Racing the stars across the sky,
Joining with the bats flying high.
With the clouds, it plays hide and seek,
Changing its shape over the week.

The moon is shining on the lake,
Catching the gaps the ripples make.
When the winds’ bellows are out,
Its reflection bobs all about.
When there’s a stillness in the air,
A perfect reflection just sits there.

The moon is shining on the trees,
Dappling the leaves in the breeze.
Slipping through gaps, seeking the ground,
Patches of moonlight all around.
Sometimes the branches hold it back,
But somewhere it will find a crack.

The moon is shining where I stand,
Landing on the back of my hand.
Showering the world with its hues,
No reds or greens, just greys and blues.
In its light, a new world on show,
A world the sun will never know.

A quiet spot of your own (poem)

A quiet spot of your own

A quiet spot far away from the crowd,
Just a quiet place where nothing’s too loud.
Somewhere your life can settle for a while,
Instead of a frown, recover a smile.
A place of calm where your tension eases,
Where your mind can drift to where it pleases.
Somewhere special, where your stress can depart,
A place where you time is ruled by your heart.

A quiet spot where you can take a rest,
To just sit back and see life at its best.
A chance for your inner spirit to renew,
Opening your eyes, enjoying the view.
Closing your eyes, reflecting within,
Letting the dreams of tomorrow begin.
And when from this spot, it’s time to depart,
Tuck a piece of it’s peace within your heart.
