Should I worry or not? (poem)

What a choice to make at dawn!

Should I worry or not?

Should I worry or not? Just which should I do?
Which way should I choose, I have not got a clue.
Should I stay calm and serene, give a big smile?
Show that all is well, at least for a short while.
Or should I worry about what I’ve forgot?
Show everyone that I have lost the plot?
Not an easy choice in this new day that I see,
So let’s just choose between a coffee or tea.

What use is worrying? What would it achieve?
What benefit would the world or I receive?
I know that everything may not be right,
But does that mean I should worry and take flight?
Just what good would it do if I let fear win?
So with a touch of calmness, this day will begin.
Who knows, my worry’s may yet all fade away,
Dissolved by calmness as I walk through this day.

Without Hesitation (poem)

Hesitation reflection

Without Hesitation

A busy life, a busy day, so much to do,
Running round in circles, trying to see things through.
The minds in confusion, stretched in every way,
Maybe a sudden stop is what you need today.
Take a sudden respite, take a step or two back,
And see that peace and calm is what your senses lack.
Pull back on the reigns before your life begins to sink,
Call it hesitation, but it gives you time to think.
Without hesitation, all caution could be lost,
Without hesitation, your world could be the cost.

A quiet time, a quiet day, free to be you,
Free to drift around, to choose what you want to do.
The mind can seek out harmony, rest in bliss,
Leave the world far behind, there’s nothing there to miss.
Wallow in peacefulness, recharge and recover,
Look around you and see what you can discover.
Maybe take a glance at the craziness still there,
Then of another’s plight, you may become aware.
Without hesitation, you could stretch out your hand,
Without hesitation, you could help them to stand.

Kindness, A user’s guide (poem)

Let kindness guide you

Kindness, a user’s guide

Within all of us, kindness can be found,
Just take a piece and add it to your day.
Keep it with you, wherever you are bound,
And let kindness guide you along your way.

So how can you find it when you are lost?
Can it be found amid uncertainty?
Know this, that kindness comes without a cost,
It is found all around, because it’s free.

Even within emptiness, kindness lives,
Even in confusion, kindness will grow,
Even in times of hardship, kindness gives,
The light of kindness is always on show.

Kindness can soon appear within a smile,
At a moment when someone is in need.
That tells them that their struggle is worthwhile,
That one day soon, their journey will succeed.

Kindness can be a hand that’s reaching out,
Or a gesture that says it is okay.
Kindness can restore hope that’s lost in doubt,
Use it to help others to find their way.

Kindness is found within a gentle voice,
Giving them encouragement to be strong.
Saying to them there is a better choice,
To not give up and just to carry on.

Kindness is a gift there for you to share,
That once given, may fade away from view.
Yet, kindness never leaves you standing there,
For kindness is still living within you.

A blank piece of paper (poem)

A place for the imagination

A blank piece of paper

A blank piece of paper sitting there in front of you,
Revealing nothing, but with so much there you can do.
A place you can write or draw, the choice is yours this day,
Just pick up a pen or pencil and doddle away!
It doesn’t have to make sense, just release what’s in your mind,
It’s amazing what’s in there, waiting for you to find.
Perhaps just a few squiggles, to the top or to the side,
Or slap bang in the middle, a circle can reside.

Some words could be written, whatever comes into your head,
You could write them backwards, or upside-down instead.
Once you start writing, more words may start to come along
Who knows, you could even end up writing a new song.
You could add in a drawing, fill up an empty space,
Lots of little doddles going all over the place.
When you have done and there’s nothing left you want to try,
You could make a paper aeroplane and let it fly.

A Reflection of Beauty (poem)

Where can beauty really be found?

A Reflection of Beauty

The person in the mirror who is looking back at me,
Must be myself, for there is no one else it can ever be.
Every curve, every bump, everything there is true,
And there is no possible chance that it could ever be you.
But what does it matter, that reflection I see in there?
It means nothing at all, no matter how long I stand and stare.
Whether I am tall or short, overweight or very thin,
It is within my heart that the echoes of myself begin.
It is only the surface of me that is reflected back,
For the beauty of my true self, does that reflection lack.

My true self can be seen in all that I do and in what I say,
The kindness that I give to others I may met upon this day.
My thoughtfulness in any deeds for those around me that I do,
All show the person that I truly am, to others and to you.
If I can make someone laugh once more, when they are feeling low,
If I can encourage someone, when their life is running slow.
If I can pick someone up and carry them that extra yard,
If I can make someone’s life easier, when their life becomes hard.
Then beautiful is what I am, for my beauty spreads right through,
If all you see is the surface, then I have only pity for you.

Kindness has no barriers (poem)

In a broken world, let us be kind.

Kindness has no barriers

Kindness has no barriers, there’s no surrounding wall,
You cannot lock it away behind an iron door.
Kindness has no prejudices, it is available to all,
You cannot hide it away beneath the kitchen floor.

Kindness is so gentle, as soft as a floating feather,
Landing gracefully upon a waiting outstretched hand.
Kindness is so strong, it can survive any weather,
With its strength you can help a fallen stranger to stand.

Let kindness be your guiding light whenever darkness falls,
For with it, you can let the light of love shine bold and bright.
Let kindness be your voice, letting others hear its calls,
For with it, you can guide them through the darkest night.

Kindness is the answer when there’s nothing else to be found,
Ready to be used in times when there is no other way.
Giving kindness to yourself, as well as to those around,
Will mend a broken life and help to bring a better day.

A moment of happiness (poem)

Memories are full of happy moments!

A moment of happiness

A moment of happiness, a moment to smile,
A moment to let cheerfulness appear for a while.
A bright sunny morning, the birds greeting the dawn,
Brings a moment of joy as they land on the lawn.
A red sky above you, the birds return to their nest,
Brings a moment of calm as the sun goes for its rest.

A moment of fun, to let your laughter flow again,
Singing out loud on your own, or dancing in the rain.
A moment shared with friends, of playing games in the park,
Or that moment when you all lit candles in the dark.
A moment spent remembering the fun in your past,
Returns with happy memories that were made
to last.

Any moment is precious, you have many inside,
All waiting for you to let them pop up outside.
Just look up at the stars or feel the wind in your hair,
Let your mind seize this moment and enjoy what’s there.
Even in darkness you can find a moment of light,
For within your heart, happiness is always in sight.

It has been a better day (poem)

You life can change in a day!

It has been a better day

It has been a better day,
I have seen a clearer way,
At last! A new path for my future I have found.
My world feels so much brighter,
My back feels so much lighter,
Yesterday’s stress has fallen softly to the ground.

I have a chance to live again,
For my happiness to remain,
As my sadness disappears, fading from my sight.
My inner spirit is now free,
It feels alive once more in me,
What was going wrong is beginning to go right.

I can feel that I am stronger,
I can keep going for longer,
Whatever tomorrow brings, I will find a way.
My life will begin to grow,
A better world I will know,
And all this happiness found within me, will stay.

Take a moment to smile (poem)

A smile can make such a difference to our lives.
(This is a double rhyme poem)

Take a moment to smile

Take a moment to smile, just here in this place,
And after a while, it will cheer up your face.
Now spread it around for anyone to see,
Let it be easily found by others, for free!

If your smile finds another, that it can reach out to,
Then you can help each other, on this day, to get through.
For a smile will bring hope, in those times of great sorrow,
Helping us to cope and find a better tomorrow.

Take a moment to smile, let it enter within,
When facing a sad trial, it will help you to win.
It will lighten your load, releasing your sadness,
Brightening up life’s road, with a touch of gladness.

For a smile can help all, both inside and out,
Gives us strength to stand tall, helps us to tackle our doubt.
If it is too hard to do, just go for a grin,
Then let it seep through you, and your smile will begin.

Waking up in a new day (poem)

A new day brings a freshness into our life.

Waking up in a new day

Waking up each day allows a new life to begin,
Bringing a fresh chance to change this world we live in.
Whatever the dawn, we begin with a new view,
Whatever this day brings, we are beginning anew.
Whatever happened yesterday
 is now in the past,
This day brings new hope for a future that can last.

Open your eyes and wake up within this new light,
Let yesterday’s shadows fade back into the night.
Let today bring the wonders of a world we can share,
Let tomorrow’s dreams show us the best way to get there.
Whatever this day’s ending, let one thought remain,
We have the beauty of this world to wake to again.
