About Jenny Maryl

Poetry, creative & imaginative thinking.

I will meet you again in the spring (love poem)

I will meet you again in the spring

I will meet you again in the spring,
Just for now, we must stay apart.
But when the time comes, then I will bring,
All of the love that I have in my heart.
Let these long days of winter drift by,
Let’s remember just how close we are.
We still share the same moon in the sky,
And can still wish upon the same star.

I will meet you again in the spring,
I shall think of you each winter’s day.
Letting your love pluck at my heartstring,
With the sweet melodies it can play.
Even now the spring plants are growing,
In defiance of winter’s cold stance,
The first of their green tips are showing,
Just wander outside and take a glance.

I will meet you again in the spring,
When the blossom appears on the trees
When the birds in the garden all sing,
To the accompaniment of the bees.
But for now, in my heart I will hold you,
Until we can be together once more.
Let our good memories guide us through,
Until spring, when I’ll walk through your door.

Let the healing begin (poem)

Let the healing begin

Let the healing begin,
Let the sunshine back in,
Let it bring light back into our lives.
Let the darkness depart,
Let our life beat restart,
For through all that darkness, love survives.

Let our hearts start caring,
Let our peace start sharing,
Let our love mend the wounds of today.
Let hope open the door,
Let joy return once more,
And let kindness and love lead the way.

In troubled times, let peace find a way (a poem and a plea)

In troubled times, let peace find a way

In troubled times, let peace find a way,
Let us treat one another as friends.
For if we cannot, then at the end of the day,
What we know as harmony, ends.
Instead of progress, our lives will decline,
Into a place full of anger and hate.
The ambassador of hope will resign,
Confused as to how we reached this state.

In troubled times, let’s find a way to heal,
To let go of the bitterness within.
Using words of peace, let us now deal,
So a path to harmony can begin.
No future is found within destruction,
No trust built whilst we are at war.
Let tomorrow bring one of construction,
Working together for peace once more.

Christmas time togetherness (poem)

Christmas time togetherness

Let Christmas time be one of happiness,
Even if together we cannot be.
Let Christmas fill us with joyfulness,
The sharing of love, between you and me.

This Christmas time we may be far apart,
And I cannot hug you like I usually do.
But we are close together in my heart,
Where I am wrapping my love around you.

Christmas Day memories (poem)

Christmas Day memories

I can remember Christmas’s of family happiness,
Of sitting around the table, full of anticipation.
Sharing our Christmas meal in the company of joyfulness,
Surrounded by love, laughter, and Christmas celebration.

I can remember sharing the presents in the afternoon,
With the wrapping paper left scattered across the floor.
Of the children playing tennis with an orange balloon,
Watching it bounce off the walls, before floating out the door.

I can remember the puppy wanting to join in the play,
When the children were in the hall, trying to have a race.
So out into the garden, we sent them on that chilly day,
To run around, throwing a ball for the puppy to chase.

Maybe this year, around the Christmas table we cannot meet,
And our festive celebrations must be done far apart.
But I will feel you all beside me, when I sit down to eat,
For on this Christmas Day, we are all together in my heart

A Christmas wish (poem)

A Christmas wish

A Christmas wish that peace can be found,
That understanding will find a way.
That towards harmony, we are all bound,
And that an outstretched hand wins the day.

A Christmas wish that our love we will share,
With those we know and those that we meet.
That our friends know that, for them we do care,
And to strangers, give a smile in the street.

A Christmas wish that we are filled with joy,
That this time brings to us all happiness.
That laughter is heard from each girl and boy,
As we relax and release our weariness.

Let love, peace and joy be our Christmas gift,
To everyone, whether a stranger or a friend.
Then across the world, harmony will drift,
Helping the wounds of humanity to mend.

Kindness has no barriers (poem)

Kindness has no barriers

Kindness has no barriers, there’s no surrounding wall,
You cannot lock it away behind an iron door.
Kindness has no prejudices, it is available to all,
You cannot hide it away beneath the kitchen floor.

Kindness is so gentle, as soft as a floating feather,
Landing gracefully upon a waiting outstretched hand.
Kindness is so strong, it can survive any weather,
With its strength you can help a fallen stranger to stand.

Let kindness be your guiding light whenever darkness falls,
For with it, you can let the light of love shine bold and bright.
Let kindness be your voice, letting others hear its calls,
For with it, you can guide them through the darkest night.

Kindness is the answer when there’s nothing else to be found,
Ready to be used in times when there is no other way.
Giving kindness to yourself, as well as to those around,
Will mend a broken life and help to bring a better day.

An Autumn Rose (poem)

An Autumn Rose

An autumn rose, such a sweet delight,
Blossoming as summer is fading from sight.
Its tender petals, defying the coldness,
Summer’s beauty living within its boldness.
In the autumn breeze, the rose gently sways,
A touch of colour for the darkening days.
Nature’s lost summer still there for us to see,
Beauty’s last glance before winter is set free.
It’s autumn splendour now fading for the year,
Until the spring, when the new buds will appear.

An anti-negativity day (poem)

An anti-negativity day

An anti-negativity day, that’s what this day is going to be!
A day for releasing everything that has ever worried me.
A day for throwing out all of that inner sadness and sorry,
For I know full well that they will return, quite happily, tomorrow.
A day for doing pleasant things with only pleasant thoughts in mind,
To take a look around and see what enjoyable things I can find.
Perhaps I will just sit and rest, or at least that’s how this day will start,
Then maybe find an activity that will bring enjoyment to my heart.

Let’s just read the good news and ignore any bad bits there may be,
And leave it to the rest of the world to do the worrying for me.
A day of anti-negativity, taken just once in a while,
Will give my tired soul a rest, and a chance to do things with a smile.
For what does it matter if today is one of sunshine or rain?
I intend to search the good bits for some happiness to regain.
Let tomorrow come along well after the setting of the sun,
But from now until then, I’ll let this day be one of peace and fun.

Am I a stranger or a friend? (poem)

Am I a stranger or a friend?

I may have walked a different path, taken a different way,
I may have led a different life and seen a different day.
I may not have learnt with you, to see what you can be,
But does that make a difference between you and me?
So now I will ask of you, as this day comes to an end,
Just how do I stand before you, as a stranger or a friend?

Perhaps if I had known your way, had seen it long ago,
And decided that it was not for me, choosing not to know.
Then you could be right to say, that I am not like you,
To turn your face away from me and keep me out of view.
But I did not learn on your road, nor walk round a single bend,
So how do I stand before you, as a stranger or a friend?

I understand just what you say, I would like to know you more,
Perhaps if you would sit with me, there’s a seat just by the door.
Let me know of your life and I will tell you about my own,
Then after a day or two, our understanding will have grown.
Learn how to heal our wounds, to know where to stitch and mend,
And then, over time, change from a stranger into a friend.
