Seasons of life (poem)

Seasons of life

From the time of our birth,
On the world we call Earth,
The seasons of our life, with our childhood, begins.
Learning whilst we have fun,
Playing games in the sun,
Laughing aloud as we all race to see who wins.

During childhood we grow,
Learning more as we go,
Too soon the season of adolescence arrives.
Each child seeking a way,
Exploring more each day,
Discovering a new future for their young lives.

Into the world we stroll,
Making a life our goal,
During the long season that we call adulthood.
So many paths to take,
In life’s journey to make,
An adventure filled with both the sad and the good.

Whilst we work, rest, and play,
The years just roll away,
Then the season of seniors comes into view.
To the young we now turn,
As we help them to learn,
The cycle of life’s seasons beginning anew.

But it hasn’t happened yet (poem)

But it hasn’t happened yet

But it hasn’t happened yet, so it’s not too late,
The fears within us do not have to be our fate.
If there’s still a clear sky above us, we can win,
If there’s a clear road before us, we can begin.

Even if the sky’s cloudy, we can still prepare,
Even if the roads bumpy, it can get us there.
Even in the darkest night, the dawn will arrive,
If we are still standing, the dream is still alive.

If it hasn’t happened yet, we can still choose a way,
To seek out a better path to get through today.
Even if every choice is not ours to make,
We can decide within, the thoughts we want to take.

Until it has happened, we can keep on going,
And let the dreams for tomorrow keep on growing.
The way to the future can be found in your heart,
Being kind in this world is a good place to start.

Tattered sails upon the mast (poem)

Tattered sails upon the mast

The tattered sails upon the mast,
Too many storms they have sailed through.
They tell of a turbulent past,
Of the journeys towards the new.
Tossed and turned on the ocean,
This ship has travelled far and wide.
Always the ship is in motion,
On seas with no safe place to hide.

Yet there are harbours to be found,
A safe haven to recover.
But soon the ship is outward bound,
To see what it can discover.
Those tattered sails all still flutter,
Maybe they won’t win any races.
But through life what does it matter,
If they get you to new places.

Sailing through a crazy world (poem)

Sailing through a crazy world

In amongst the craziness of this modern life,
Can we find a place where calmness can still prevail?
In amongst these raging seas of trouble and strife,
Can we find a harbour from where hope can set sail?

Those storm clouds of confusion have spread all around,
With thunderbolts of anger lighting up the skies.
Wherever we look, there is no clear ground to be found,
There is no hilltop seen from where the flag of truce flies.

Just what do we do when the world has lost its way?
Is there anything that I can do to change things?
There is no clear path, when I look around this day,
No better life promised with what tomorrow brings.

Perhaps I cannot change anything around me,
So maybe I should stop, just let it all pass me by.
Perhaps there is no better future that I can see,
So maybe it is in today that I should try.

If the outside is lost, then I should let it all go,
Let it take all its craziness out of my view.
Perhaps it is the inner me I should get to know,
Seek within myself for a life I can renew.

I can change who I am, replacing anger with hope,
I can change my life, try to toss out all that sorrow.
Within, I’ll build a ship of love, then release its rope,
And let the wind of kindness steer it through tomorrow.

Hope can be found when all else is lost (poem)

Hope can be found when all else is lost

Hope can be found when all else is lost,
For its seeds are found within your heart.
Hope has no price, it comes without cost,
For it’s been in your heart from the start.

Hope can be grown in any climate
Through a raging storm, it will survive
In darkness, hope seeds can germinate,
In emptiness, hope seeds can still thrive.

Hope can be carried throughout hard times,
It places no weight upon your life.
Through your darkness, the bell of hope chimes,
Guiding you through your troubles and strife.

Hope can be shared, you can let it go,
For when released, some hope will remain.
Within your heart, your hope will regrow,
And all that was shared out, you regain.

Hope can be forever, always near,
It never quite fades out of your view.
Just rest, and its strength will reappear,
Just stand up, and let its dreams guide you.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose (poem)

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose,
What comes next is for you to choose.
You could leap up and fly through the sky,
You could sit down and begin to cry.
You could open the door, give a cheer,
Or shut the door and let no one near.

When you are winning, enjoy the day,
Enjoy the changes it brings your way.
Laugh for a while, but let’s not forget,
All of those challenges that you met.
Remember that others must still fight,
Be kind to them, when they are in sight.

When you are losing, it will not last,
That one day this will be in your past.
Life’s ups and down we must all go through,
Just keep on going, seek out the new.
Hold on to your hope, reach out your hand,
Let others help you, once more, to stand.

Whether winning or losing in life,
Whether life’s easy or full of strife,
Kindness and hope are there deep within,
With both of those, let your day begin.
Let them shine through, let them guide your way,
For always, they bring a better day.

Oh no! Where do I go? (poem)

Oh no! Where do I go?

Oh no! Where do I go?
Which of these footpaths should I take?
Go right? What’s now in sight?
Which of these choices should I make?

Just sit, rest for a bit,
Just take a moment to be still.
Sit back, life’s not so black,
Let the world walk pass as it will.

Look high, see a blue sky,
For beyond grey clouds it is blue.
Look low, see the plants grow,
Nature’s world is now in your view.

Sunlight, is now in sight,
It’s coming to where you now are.
Moonlight, fills up the night,
Just relax and look at your star.

New hope, you can now cope,
Within you there’s the path you need.
Look in, life can begin,
Within you there grows a new seed.

Stand up, drink from life’s cup,
You are all that you need to be.
Just go, your life to know,
Enjoy life, be kind and be free.

The Passing of Tomorrow (poem)

The Passing of Tomorrow

Tomorrow comes sailing into sight,
As yesterday starts sailing away.
Briefly they meet in the deep dark night,
Where, for a moment, they share a day.

Tomorrow’s cloak sparkles in the night air,
Yesterday’s cloak has fallen to the floor.
But only for a while does it lay there,
Before tomorrow picks it up once more.

For yesterday’s cloak shows where we have been,
As tomorrow stores it away in the mind.
Becoming a memory of all that was seen,
Sitting forever in there for us to find.

In today, tomorrow passes on through,
Following the footsteps left by yesterday.
Bringing to us a day that is brand new,
Before, it too, begins to sail away.
